Southern California Beauty on 2040-cars
Sun City, California, United States
I bought this vehicle new from Rancho Ford in Temecula, CA (Southern California) on June 30, 2006. It has been regularly maintained by that dealer for the last 8 years. Car has always been garaged and has seen snow only twice since new. Everything works as advertised and the car has no bad habits. Body is laser straight and the interior looks like new. No animals, kids, smokers, etc. There are some small scratches on the rear lift gate (see pix). Car has most options available that year: 6 disc CD player, captains chairs (leather), 17" wheels, 3rd row fold down seat, remore entry, etc. See pix of original window sticker. There is an accident noted on CarFax. I tapped the rear end of a car that stopped without warning in front of me. There was no damage to that car, no air bag deployment and the only damage to the Expedition was the front license plate bracket was knocked off and two small cracks in the air dam. Bracket and plate replaced and no other problems. Gas mileage is as expected, 16 around town, about 20 on a trip. Tires are Michelin P265/70R17, LTX M/S with plenty of miles remaining. Car is equipped with a heavy duty towing package that has never been connected or used and the spare tire is original and has never touched the ground. Also has roof racks and running boards. Expedition re-sale prices are all over the place but you have to consider condition. This is a rare 2006; same owner, maintained by Ford and has always been in a dry climate so no rust. Car is listed locally and subject to sale at any time. |

2015 Ford F-150 shaves 700 pounds, adds 2.7-liter EcoBoost [w/video]
Mon, 13 Jan 2014The Ford F-150 is one of the best selling vehicles on the planet. Considering that, one can imagine that when it comes time for a redesign, there are hardly any half measures. For its lucky thirteenth generation, Ford has gone all-in on the single most important vehicle in its portfolio, redesigning it from the ground up.
The big news is the F-150's new, lightweight, Atlas-inspired body. Ninety-three percent of that new body is made from a sort of aluminum alloy not unlike what the US military uses in its M2 Bradley fighting vehicles and Humvees, and it accounts for up to 70 percent of the F-150's 700-pound weight reduction. As a side benefit, the aluminum body should prove more resistant to dents and dings. Built Ford tough, indeed.
If you're wondering where the other 30 percent of that 700-pound weight loss went, 8.5 percent (60 pounds) came from the increased use of high-strength steel (up from 23 percent to 77 percent) in its ladder-box frame. Ford claims this steel is comparable to some of the heavy duty pickups used by its competitors, with a PSI rating of 70,000.
Ford celebrating 80 years of Aussie utes as it prepares to shutter Oz manufacturing
Wed, 26 Feb 2014Ford is ending Australian production after 90 years in 2016, and with it may go perhaps the most iconic vehicles in its auto market - the ute. Car-based pickup trucks like the Ford Ranchero and Chevrolet El Camino were always more of a curiosity than a true market force here, but in Australia, they have long proven hugely popular.
As the legend goes, Ford invented the niche after a farmer's wife had asked Ford Australia's managing director for a more utilitarian car. Her request was simple: "My husband and I can't afford a car and a truck but we need a car to go to church on Sunday and a truck to take the pigs to market on Monday. Can you help?"
Ford's design team came up with a two-passenger, enclosed, steel coupe body with glass windows and a steel-paneled, wooden-frame load area in the rear. The sides of the bed were blended into the body to make it look more unified, and to keep costs down, the front end and interior were based on the Ford Model 40 five-window coupe. Power came from a V8 with shifting chores handled by a three-speed manual. Within a year, the new vehicle was ready, and production began in 1934. Lead designer Lewis Bandt christened it the coupe-utility.
Ford's official Euro aftermarket partner Mountune coming to US
Tue, 06 Aug 2013Now that we're getting a steady stream of Ford's European offerings, the aftermarket world is finally starting to catch up as well. UK-based aftermarket tuning company, Mountune has just announced that it will be setting up shop in California to provide high-performance and racing parts for Ford vehicles including the Focus ST and Fiesta ST.
Mountune lays claim to being Ford's "official European tuning partner," and US buyers will soon have access to these parts through Ford dealerships and with a Ford Racing warranty. Speaking of Ford Racing, Mountune also says that it will be working with Ford's in-house team to develop future components for both street and track. There are no specifics as of yet for which products will be offered here, but the company plans to launch a US-specific website later this month with more information.
