Built for export 1956 Ford Crown Victoria Glass Top
Built at Mahwah Plant in New Jersey. Exported to Peru, South America. 3 are known to exist only 1956 in North America. This car is extremely rare and very unique. As a little background on the car, Fords of the early 50's were well built but they were also relatively conservative. A dose of style was in order, and the arrival of Franklin Q. Hershey signaled the dawn of a new era, as Fords were suddenly much more exciting. The top of the line was the flashy new Fairlane Crown Victoria, or which nearly 10,000 were built. The most Futuristic of these were the new glass tops, which were fitted with a tinted plexiglass roof section over the front seats. A zip-out liner gave shelter from the sun on hot days, but when removed it gave a dazzling effect. Allowing the passengers spectacular views of blue skies and starry nights. At $70 more however it was a little pricey and just 603 were built, making these the rarest and most desirable of the Crown Victoria's. In all honesty this 56 Ford is very rusty but has all body parts included to restore to a factory original. Has a 302 ci w/ 5 speed manual transmission that runs very well also a posi rear end w/ disc brakes. All glass is good except driver window the glass top has sun cracks. Chrome is in good condition with the exception of bumpers. Front seats are high back bucket out of a mustang, the back seats are all original in excellent shape. All other upholstery is in fair condition. Body has been modified but all donor parts will be included, a donor car in also negotiable in price. Contact for more information lots of pictures. Ford Mustang 50th anniversary edition brings in $170k
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Just the other day, we reported on the first Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat selling for a whopping $825,000 at auction. But impressive as that sum was, the Challenger wasn't the only sought-after modern muscle car to cross the Barrett-Jackson auction block in Las Vegas this past weekend. So did this rare Ford Mustang.
The last of 1,964 special-edition 50 Years Limited Edition pony cars sold for a princely $170,000, with proceeds benefiting the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute, a branch of the Henry Ford Health System.
The pony car in question is based on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT and upgrades with a performance package and nearly every option on the book, along with a unique appearance package to set it apart in celebration of the Mustang's 50th anniversary. It's available in two exclusive shades - Wimbledon white or Kona blue - with either a manual or automatic transmission. Only 1,964 highly symbolic examples were to be built, and this was the last of them.
DoJ fines Japanese parts firms $740M in massive automotive price-fixing scandal
Fri, 27 Sep 2013Nine Japanese suppliers have pleaded guilty in US court over charges of price fixing in the automotive parts industry, resulting in the Department of Justice doling out a total of $740 million of fines, according to a report from Bloomberg. The scandal, which has resulted in General Motors, Ford, Toyota and Chrysler spending up to $5 billion on inflated parts and driving up prices on 25 million vehicles has sent the DoJ hustling into investigations. "The conduct this investigation uncovered involved more than a dozen separate conspiracies aimed at the U.S. economy," Attorney General Eric Holder (pictured above) said during yesterday's press conference.
As the investigation stands, the DoJ has issued $1.6 billion in fines against 20 companies and 21 individual executives, with 17 of the execs headed to prison. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Scott Hammond said, "The breadth of the conspiracies brought to light today are as egregious as they are pervasive. They involve more than a dozen separate conspiracies operating independently but all sharing in common that they targeted US automotive manufacturers."
Big-name suppliers indicted in the investigation include Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi Automotive and Mitsuba Corporation. A list of fines and other corporations named in the investigation is available at Bloomberg.
Last 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible nets $500k for charity at Barrett-Jackson [w/video]
Tue, 13 Aug 2013The last 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible was sold on Saturday at a Barrett-Jackson auction in Reno, Nevada, for $500,000. Ford donated the Mustang to be auctioned for charity, and all of the money is going to the Brain Injury Association of America.
Parnelli Jones, winner of the 1963 Indianapolis 500, was there on behalf of the BIAA with his son Page, who suffered a brain injury in a sprint car crash in 1994. The bidding increased quickly, reaching $500k in no time, spreading a bit more hope to people who live with brain injuries.
The winning bidder will be able to choose the GT500's exterior, interior and stripe colors, and is scheduled to receive the car, signed by Parnelli Jones in appreciation for the donation, by the end of 2013. Watch the video below to see the auction-block action.
