Up for sale is a 1998 Ford Contour SVT.  This vehicle runs and drives very well.  Frankly, it's a very fun, budget sports car.  The leather seats are in excellent shape.  This vehicle has huge potential.  All power windows and power door locks function flawlessly.  There is an aftermarket Alpine head unit installed (model CDA-105)  Anybody looking for this vehicle will know why it is special and all of its good attributes.  With that said, I'm going to focus on the items that need attention for the car to be perfect.

  • The moonroof gear needs to be replaced.  The motor has been removed, but is included with the sale.
  • The interior trim piece that covers the moonroof motor is missing.  The moonroof mechanism works perfectly manually.
  • The upholstery on the moonroof sliding cover is missing.
  • The driver's side power seat switches and motor function, but the seat does not slide forward or backward.  It is in a comfortable driving position for me, I'm 6'2" tall.
  • The power antenna mast has sheared off.
  • The hood, roof, and trunklid's clearcoat has eroded.  The top surfaces of the vehicle need to be refinished.
  • The driver's side speaker is blown.

I have the clean title in hand.  The vehicle is available to be test driven (must be scheduled) in the Wilmington, NC area.

Ford Edge Concept previews new look, can park itself remotely

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

It turns out the image we saw back in February did, in fact, reveal the next-generation Ford Edge - at least in concept form. We still have to wait to see what the design will look like in production guise, but until then, Ford is giving us a good idea thanks to the Edge Concept being introduced at the LA Auto Show.
The new styling is an evolution of the current crossover's face with narrow headlights and a prominently slatted grille, while the rest of the design adds a more dynamic appearance with interesting body creases and horizontal taillights. We haven't gotten a look inside the Edge Concept just yet, but Ford is promising a suite of advanced driver-assist technologies including a new self-park system that allows activation from inside or outside the vehicle along with obstacle avoidance and an adaptive electric power steering system.
Ford will continue to offer an EcoBoost engine option in the upcoming Edge, and it will get active grille shutters to help maximize fuel efficiency. No word yet on when we'll be seeing the next-gen Edge in production form, but as we reported recently, it will become a global model in markets including Europe, China and South America. Ford's press release is posted below, but we'll have more information and images up later today.

Leno chooses his top 10 Mustangs

Sat, 14 Jun 2014

He may be a few months late to the party, but in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, Jay Leno has delivered a short video in which he runs down which of the Blue Oval's pony cars from the past 50 years are his favorites.
The list is pretty darn similar to our own, with some of the big names from the Mustang's half century making an appearance, while there are three or four cars here that we think you'll be pretty surprised by.
Take a look below for this short video from Jay Leno's Garage.

Old vs. new debate gets new life with $25,000 Fiesta ST vs. E46 M3 showdown

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

You know who you are. There's probably a few of you reading; the ones that say, "Why would I spend $27,000 on a new Mazda MX-5 when I could get a used Chevrolet Corvette with more power." Yes, we're talking to you, used car proponents. While it is a fair argument, it's not like used cars don't come with drawbacks of their own, though.
In an attempt to put this new-versus-used argument to bed once and for all, Matt Farah of the The Smoking Tire has picked up a pair of $25,000 cars - a used, but lightly modified, 2003 BMW M3 and a 2013 Ford Fiesta ST. Naturally, there's a comparison.
Farah, as he's wont to do, does get into the nitty gritty of what each car is like to drive, and discusses the merits of used and new-car shopping. But as he rightly points out while testing the M3, "So, it is a good car. But like any used car, it really does depend on the individual car."
