For sale is my 1996 Ford Bronco. I bought this truck from the original owner years ago. I installed a 6" Superlift kit with the Extended Radius arms. This kit alone was more than $3,000 not including labor. I had it installed by Southwest 4x4 here in Albuquerque. I also had them change the gears to 4:11's front and rear for more get up and go, and 35" Dick Cepek "Fun Country" tires (I trimmed the bumper myself with a sawsall and I've yet to have anybody see it and not think it's a factory bumper. I also had TRUE dual exhaust installed by a local exhaust shop. The truck haS 97K miles on it and the 5.0 multiport injected Mustang V8 runs STRONG and SMOOTH. With the addition of the lift kit and new springs it rides like new, is tight, and feels awesome. The hard top in this light blue color looks horrible so I got rid of it and ordered this custom top from Texas Tops. I couldn't tell you how many times people stop me to ask about this truck since I put the top on. Also installed are a Cobra CB radio and a stereo with a boom box, sound is excellent. I am including as many pic's as possible because I want everybody to see how immaculate and clean this vehicle is... WITHOUT even a trip to the car wash - this is just how it always looks. There are no leaks, no rattles, no problems. There is a burn hole in the seat, a large but repaired chip in windshield, and a small crack in the dash. The tires rub on really really tight turns but it's not a problem. I changed the gauge cluster out because I wanted to have A tachometer. At the time of the change the vehicle had about 90K miles and the odo in the "new" cluster was reading 153K. So you need subtract about 63K miles to be accurate. I just had the vehicle serviced at a very reputable garage, including diff changes, tranny flush and fill, oil change, 4 wheel alignment, etc. This vehicle is very very reliable, drives straight and true, and you could easily plan a cross country trip or an off-road safari without fear of mechanical problems. THERE IS NO HARDTOP OR REAR SEAT, I was going for more of a jeep type of vehicle instead of an SUV. This Bronco will surprise you it is so fun to drive. With the 5-speed tranny and V8 engine, along with the 4:11 gears, it feels like you are driving a badass 5.0 mustang GT, it's that strong. And 4x4 capabilities are amazing.. it's got the clearance, the power, the wheel base, and the pedigree to leave Jeeps crying. I am selling this truck to make room for a work truck I just bought on Ebay myself, it was a quid pro quo deal I made with my wife. :(

Evo grabs Ford's Fiesta R5 rally car by the scruff

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

Evo and host Henry Catchpole were thinking of excuses reasons to borrow the bonkers Ford Fiesta R5 rally car for a day or two, when it struck them: the car is street legal. With access to the R5, some of the world's most beautiful driving roads in the English Lake Country nearby, and a handy video crewing hanging around, the plan seemed to write itself.
Based on the resulting video, it was a good plan. Without spoiling the video for you - something we can't really do in text as the best part is listening to the rally car run - Catchpole finds the Fiesta to be sublimely quick and massively satisfying. Even taking the car for a spin on a pseudo rally stage, after leaving the English countryside, does nothing but add to his assessment of the beastly little Ford. Scroll on below to see for yourself, and enjoy the ride.

Ford trademarking 'Mach 1,' possibly for Mustang

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

A legendary name might be accompanying the redesigned, 2015 Mustang when it finally makes its world debut - Mach 1. Stumbled upon by the team at Ford Authority, the Mach 1 title was found in a trademark filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office, and would revive a name last used on the fourth-generation, 2003 Mustang.
While the the 2003 vintage was well and good, the Mach 1 is really remembered for a three-year run from 1969 to 1971 - it's best to just forget the emissions-choked 1972 to 1978 Mach 1s - when power output ranged from a modest 250 horsepower with the two-barrel, 351-cubic-inch Windsor V8 to "375 hp" (actual output was rumored to be well north of 400 horsepower) with the righteous, 429-cubic-inch Super Cobra Jet V8.
What does the title hold for the sixth-generation Mustang? It's tough to say. The fanatics at Ford Authority seem to think Mach 1 could take the place of the Shelby GT500 at the top of the Mustang hierarchy, which sounds like a valid argument. At the same time, we could see the SVT Cobra moniker returning for the flagship model, and the Mach 1 doing battle with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (unless the Boss 302 were to return). Confounding things is the historical precedent - the Mach 1 was responsible for the death of the Mustang GT in 1969, so it might make sense as a volume performance model.

Ford gives police chiefs tech to surveil officers in their own cars

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

Police officers certainly have a difficult job in keeping the streets safe, but as public employees in positions of authority, there is still a very real need for oversight. To that end, Ford is partnering with a tech company to offer a new system called Ford Telematics for Law Enforcement on its line of Police Interceptor patrol vehicles that could make cops safer, while giving cities a better idea of what its officers are doing.
The system streams live data about cruisers back to the home base to people like the police chief or shift supervisor. That info includes expected things like speed, location and cornering acceleration, but it gets incredibly granular as well, with records of things like if emergency lights are on, or even if an officer is wearing a seatbelt.
Ford Telematics for Law Enforcement "ought to protect officers as much as it protects the public," said Ford spokesperson Chris Terry to Autoblog. Constantly monitoring patrol cars offers cities a lot of advantages, too. First, it reduces potential liability because a department can prove where each vehicle is at all times. Also, officers know they are being watched and may potentially drive more safely.
