Modern Vehicle Services, Inc. is a newly established service center for the American Trucker, specifically the Owner Operator. Our facility sits in the center of what will be known as O/O Oasis, a 20 acre campground like parking area for truckers and motor coach owners. Each drive thru space is at least 80 feet long and 20 feet wide with 20/30 electric for trucks and 30/50 electric for coaches. The service center offers shop and mobile vehicle repair, tire sales and service, complete wash and detail service, light/medium/heavy duty towing and recovery, complete truck and trailer parts sales, entry level to advanced CDL and recreational driver training and now vehicle sales of cars, trucks, RVs and trailers.
We are conveniently located in the population center of the USA in Bourbon, Missouri on the north service road of Interstate 44, just west of Sullivan, 60 miles southwest of St. Louis.
The mission of our vehicle sales division is to provide quality at a reasonable price. First, we are very particular with vehicles we offer. We strive to find American made vehicles which have been proven reliable, efficient and comfortable to own. Then we fully inspect and repair or replace any deficiency. We confirm all regular maintenance is current including a fresh oil change. Once mechanically sound we wash, wax and detail. All vehicles are covered by the remainder of the factory warranty or our own power train coverage for 30 days or 1000 miles. Cars come with a full tank of gas. Ford is recalling an estimated 64,869 examples of the 2014-2015 Fusion, Fusion Energi and Fusion Hybrid in North America because the key can be removed when the vehicle isn't in Park under certain conditions. Specifically, the campaign covers 56,479 units in the US, 6,048 in Canada and 2,342 in Mexico, according to the automaker's tally on November 11.
Ford says a programming problem in the instrument cluster means that the key can be removed 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off, even if the transmission is not in Park. The situation where this could happen seems quite limited, and the company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue. However, the fault puts the vehicle out of compliance with federal regulations covering theft protection and rollaways, and must be repaired.
The fix is easy: Ford will reprogram the instrument cluster at no cost to consumers. According to Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker in an email to Autoblog, "We will notify customers the week of January 5th." Scroll down to read Ford's announcement.
Most domestic automaker assembly plants traditionally take a couple of weeks off during the summer. The shutdowns give each plant time for much needed repairs and maintenance, and in some cases, help better align production with demand. Not this year, though, as demand for many models is outstripping what Ford, Chrysler and General Motors plants can produce.
Ford has announced that it will shorten its annual summer shutdown for most North American plants from two weeks to one. The shorter shutdown will increase the carmaker's annual North American production by 40,000 units on top of the 200,000 extra units that it was already planning to produce this year versus last. Automotive News reports that Ford produced 2.8 million vehicles on this continent in 2012, and that output this year has already increased 13 percent through April.
Chrysler, meanwhile, is also operating at full tilt and plans to run some plants through the summer with no shutdown at all. Those not getting a break include Jefferson North where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled, Toledo North that will assemble the new Cherokee, and Conner Avenue, home of SRT Viper production. Other assembly plants will be down for a single week, while all of Chrysler's engine and transmission plants except one in Indiana will continue operating with no shutdown this summer.
Ford has quite the racing pedigree, but usually, its racers are relegated to the track. Not the new Formula Ford EcoBoost, though. It's a turbocharged, open-wheeled racer complete with a 200-horsepower, 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine... and it's legal on the roads of the UK.
That's stressed in this video from Autocar, with the mag going so far as to show the car's tax disc and license plates. Being a road-legal offering, it's tempting to see just how well an open-wheeler that delivers racecar-like performance while also netting over 100 miles per gallon (assume this is on the British cycle, for obvious reasons) stacks up against modern performance cars.
Autocar lined up the Formula Ford against an Audi R8 V10, a BMW M6 Gran Coupe and a Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG in a number of situations to see which would come out on top. Take a look below for the full video.
