1982 Ferrari Mondial 8.  Recent Major service with timing belts, tensioner bearings, valve adjustment and new hoses and belts, and water pump rebuild.  New iridium spark plugs and new wires and rotors.  Unfortunately, while tuning it after the major service, it threw a rod through the block.

The car is in good condition, but has dings, chips and flaws, and shows evidence of poor body work and paint matching in a few minor spots. The seats show very little wear.  As with most Ferrari's of this age, the power windows are slow / stuck, and the power antenna, and mirrors don't work as they should.  The engine ran well and the transmission shifted as it should.

It is definately a project vehicle with the greatest obstacle being the engine.  If you have access to a vintage 2 valve engine block, you can have a Ferrari for a very small investment.  I have a few contacts that have engine parts that I can pass the information along to the new owner.

If the car sells for $9400 or more, I will include the "348" wheels and Michelin Pilot Tires (285 /40 / R17 rear, 225 / 45 / R17 front).  If the final bid is less than that amount, the car will come with generic (non-Ferrari) wheels and non-performance tires with the expectation that you will supply your own wheels and tires.

I have included a phote of the actual vin plate, and the VIN number needed to be corrected this year after years of having the wrong number in the DMV system.  The 5th digit was listed on the old title as a 0 (zero) when it is actually a "D".  It was verified and corrected with Utah DMV in August / September of 2012.

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer any concerns.

Note*** If the final winning bid is less that $9400, the Ferrari 348 wheels and Michelin Pilot tires will not be included, but will be replaced with non-Ferrari Wheels and non performance tires.

The car brakes and steers, but does not run due to the hole in the engine block from a thrown rod.  I can assist with coordinating shipping from my driveway.

Ferrari rated world's most powerful brand ahead of Apple

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

Ferrari has nabbed the honor of becoming the world's most powerful brand from Apple. According to Brand Finance, the Italian automaker earned the highest rating among all brands on the Global 500 list despite being worth considerably less than its competition. But the ranking takes into account more than just a company's bottom line. Brand Finance also looks at margins, average revenue per customer and less tangible notions like brand affection and loyalty.
There's no disputing those latter two categories, and this year saw Ferrari enjoy the best financial results in the automaker's history. In 2012, the company's revenue jumped by eight percent to 2.43 billion euro thanks in part to a 4.5 percent increase in deliveries worldwide.
Meanwhile, Apple squeaked out ahead of Samsung to earn the top spot as the most valuable brand at $400 billion. You can check out the Brand Finance press release below for more information.

1962 Ferrari 250 GTO for sale in Germany at $64 million

Tue, 29 Jul 2014

Prices keep climbing for the Ferrari 250 GTO with virtually no end in sight. In 1969 one sold for just $2,500, but by the 1980s they were trading for hundreds of thousands, then millions, then tens of millions to the point that the last last year, one was reported to have changed hands at $52 million. But now there's a GTO for sale in Germany that could eclipse even that gargantuan price tag.
Ferrari made 39 examples of the 250 GTO between 1962 and 1962, and the item listing on mobile.de doesn't give much in the way of specifics as to which exactly we're looking at. But last we checked, there were only two GTOs in Germany, and the other one was silver. That leaves chassis number 3809GT, which was delivered new in '62 to Switzerland and participated in numerous endurance races and hillclimb events throughout the early 60s. 3809GT has been owned until now by one Hartmut Ibing, who bought it in 1976 when values were in the tens of thousands, not tens of millions. Given how his asset has appreciated so dramatically, and with less than 10,000 miles on the odometers over 52 years, we could understand how Ibing would want to cash out.
Of course we could be mistaken and we could be looking at an entirely different example - the vast majority were, after all, painted red and fitted with blue upholstery just like this one - but either way, we're looking at a price tag of 47.6 million euros. That's nearly $64 million at today's rates, inclusive of Germany's 19 percent VAT rate that adds a staggering $10 million in taxes to the pre-tax price of 40 million euros, which comes in under $54 million but would still be the most ever paid for a GTO (or really, just about any car ever made).

Why the Ferrari Testarossa deserves some respect

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

Join us for a moment in putting on our way-back hats, zeroing in on the late 1980s. Imagine that you're in your bedroom. Look over at the wall across from your bed. What car do you see on the poster? If you're anything like us, it's a Lamborghini Countach - in fact, it's a trio of Lamborghini Countach models in an array of colors. Oh, and there's also a 1:18-scale diecast Countach in black sitting on our dresser with its scissor doors locked in a skyward embrace.
Of course, the Raging Bull wasn't Italy's only great supercar from the 1980s, especially if you cast your lot at the temple of the Prancing Horse. The Ferrari Testarossa, as pointed out in the latest video from Petrolicious, is an oft unsung hero penned from the stuff boyhood dreams are made of. Far from a *ahem* red-headed stepchild, the Testarossa deserves a place in the minds and hearts of '80s supercar fans the world over.
Scroll down below to watch vintage car collector Joe Ventura talk about the Ferrari Testarossa with beautifully bright red Italian design serving as a fitting backdrop.
