This black beauty with tan leather Daytona seats has only 7,858 miles. It has been meticulously serviced at Ferrari of Newport Beach. All major service and belts have been done recently. It gets its exercise once a week and effortlessly works its way down Sunset Blvd. to Malibu Beach, over Mulholland Drive and up through the canyons. It always starts, fluids perfect and all temperatures are normal. The body is nice. No nicks or dents. No accidents. Interior is perfect; no leather shrinkage on the dash.

Although the 550s were under appreciated during the production years, it has proven to be extremely reliable and is now highly sought after for several reasons. It is essentially the last 12-cylinder Ferrari production car that was available with a gated manual six-speed transmission. The silky smooth engine and gearbox reminds us of the time when Ferraris were really fun to drive. That combination is what true Ferrari enthusiasts seek. The meshing of 48 valves, 12-cylinders, 4 exhausts and a six-speed transmission make it a fantastic car to drive. You get the real feeling of the road with it. Paddle shifts just don't get it! Uggh!

The maintenance on these cars is indeed low because not much goes wrong with them and the parts are relatively cheap. You rarely see a 550 at any of the Ferrari service centers; that's because not much goes wrong with a 12-cylinder manual shift combination.

Owners of low mileage 550s with the right color combination can look forward to good appreciation in the future. These cars have held their prices and are now on the uptick. The cars are rare so don't miss out.

Is the $1.4M LaFerrari sold out?

Mon, 09 Dec 2013

If you look at the stratospheric sticker prices on the latest generation of hypercars and wonder how an automaker could possibly justify it, bear in mind a few factoids. For one thing, even when the sticker prices start lower, they quickly balloon past the million-dollar mark. For another, automakers charge that much because they can, and don't seem to have much trouble selling them all.
Case in point: the new LaFerrari. While presenting the state-of-the-art supercar on CNBC, Ferrari North America CEO Marco Mattiacci revealed that all 499 examples that will be made of the hybrid hypercar - including those 120 earmarked for North America - have already been spoken for. This despite the $1.4 million asking price that makes it the most expensive Ferrari ever made.
Or the most expensive new Ferrari, we should say, because prices for the most collectable machines ever to roll out the gates at Maranello continue to rise. Figure you'll save a little and get LaFerrari's predecessor? Trading hands these days at prices approaching $2 million (around three times its original $660k MSRP), the Enzo is even more expensive. And that's just the scarlet tip of the iceberg.

This is the amazing Christmas wonderland Ferrari builds for kids every year

Sun, 23 Dec 2012

Granted, when we think of a "Ferrari Christmas Wonderland" our dreams naturally manifest something like a red FF with a bow on the hood and keys on the seat, parked in front of a Fiorano Circuit that's ours for the day. A guy's gotta dream, right?
But, luckily for a lot of beaming children and their grateful, non-selfish parents, Ferrari's gift back to the people of Maranello is far more festive. The Italian automaker clearly pulls out all of the stops for its annual Kids Christmas party to celebrate the season. The event, which sees the Ferrari grounds transformed in to a veritable amusement park in a holiday theme, seems pretty massive of scale and impressive in its detail.
Click through to the video clip below to see what we mean, and pay special attention about two-thirds of the way through, when a special contingent of 'Santas' drop by to say "Boun Natale."

Drive goes sideways, shreds tires in a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

Ferrari has built a monster with its F12 Berlinetta, a V12-powered grand tourer that has the looks of a supermodel and the firepower of a small country. And while it's been on the scene for a minute, Drive's Chris Harris wasn't going to turn down the opportunity to hoon a 740-horsepower prancing horse around the scenic Anglesey Circuit in Wales.
In fact, not only was Ferrari nice enough to loan Harris the F12, but it threw in an extra four sets of tires, just for him to destroy while taking moving pictures. The resulting video is indeed one to watch, not just because of the ample amounts of slow-motion drifting, but because Harris, as always, does a great job of making the viewer feel like they're actually along for the ride. Take a look below for the latest video from Drive.
