Selling our '93 Toyota pickup truck with the legendary RE-22 engine. The only reason we are selling is because the rear passenger leaf spring is dismounted. It came off of the frame and must be welded back on. We do not have the resources to get this fixed. We got an estimate from one local garage, and they said it can be done between $400 and $700. Keep in mind that is a garage that charges $75 per hour. If you can weld or know some who can, this truck is a steal. If it was welded, we would ask $4000, and would not be selling. These trucks are not commonly for sale, and when they are, they go fast because the RE22 engines easily last over 300k miles. Parts alone, the truck is worth $2000.

Some of the specifics include the following..

  • -It is a 4x4 (4 wheel drive) with oversized tires
  • -RE22 - 4 cylinder engine
  • -5 speed manual transmission
  • -After-market CD player and speakers
  • -Tool box with lockable latch included, and bed liner
  • -Clutch replaced around 15,000 miles ago
  • -Truck has seen a lot of highway miles (motor runs strong)
  • -Currently has a wire harness for a trailer

-Does not currently have a bumper, broken rear window (locked keys in), cruise control and parking brake do not work. Rip on side of driver’s seat, and does contain some rust spots on random spots of the truck (most shown in photos).

-This would be a great truck once it is welded. These engines last 300k plus miles, hate to get rid of her but the repair needed has forced my hand.

Ferrari to offer 458 examples of new Speciale Spider

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

Talk about first-world, one-percenter problems: you want to get a new Ferrari, you've even settled on the 458, but you can't decide between the Spider and the Speciale. It's a tough call, we know. But your pain will be over soon, if the latest rumors are to be believed.
Those rumors have it that, at an exclusive preview event for select customers at Pebble Beach this past weekend, Ferrari showed off a new 458 variant that combines the best attributes of the 458 Spider (namely its folding hardtop) with those of the 458 Speciale (those being its 600-horsepower engine and other go-fast bits).
Succeeding the similarly exclusive, best-of-both-worlds, F430-based 16M Scuderia Spider, the new 458 Speciale Spider (or whatever it's ultimately called) is said to be limited to 458 examples worldwide, and is expected to be unveiled to the public at the Paris Motor Show this coming October.

Race Recap: 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix is racing like you dream about

Sun, 06 Apr 2014

Well. What a race.
The first line of last year's Bahrain Grand Prix recap was, "The sand, the wind, the penalties, the contact and the one crash - all of them collided to make the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix a surprise affair from day to day and lap to lap." This year the sand stayed mostly off the track and the wind limited its gusts to the back side around Turn 11, but everything else carried over into this 2014 F1 season.
There were penalties issued, penalties given, contact from the first lap and an astonishing crash that made the race even more exciting than it already was. Or rather, two races, because the Mercedes AMG Petronas cars are so good - and both their drivers are so good - that every pilot is still racing for third unless one of The Silver Arrows trips up. But even the race for third was riveting. As well as that for fourth, fifth, sixth, and every position back to about eleventh, all through the race. At times it seemed like the producers were so unused to having to follow actual on-track passing that they weren't sure which camera to switch to; there was so much action for all 57 laps, sometimes two or three passing moves on the same lap to go along with the close racing throughout, that we saw more passes in replays than live.

Ferrari chairman ticked off by Alonso

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

Luca Cordero di Montezemolo does not strike us as the kind of person we'd want to cross. We imagine the Chairman of Ferrari as sort of like an automotive Don Corleone, a thought that is further confirmed when we hear about the aftermath of last weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso made some unsubstantiated remarks that have angered his team, with The Daily Mail reporting that when asked after the race what he wanted for his birthday, the Spaniard responded "Someone else's car." And while no one seems to know exactly what was said, it was enough to prompt a personal phone call from the boss of Ferrari on Alonso's birthday for a dressing down.
Montezemolo reminded Alonso that, "All the great champions who have driven for Ferrari have always been asked to put the interests of the team above their own. This is the moment to stay calm, avoid polemics and show humility and determination in making one's own contribution, standing alongside the team and its people both at the track and outside it."
