Ferrari F12 Berlinetta auction raises $1.5M for Hurricane Sandy relief

Ferrari has managed to raise $1.5 million for victims of Hurricane Sandy during an auction in Austin, Texas for the very first F12 Berlinetta in the US. The funds will go to the American Red Cross and be earmarked for Hurricane Sandy relief. Ferrari started bidding on the F12 at $315,888, but the most powerful production model from the company fetched $1.125 million by the time the gavel fell through bids sourced both in person and over the phone. The company also managed to raise a further $345,000 in in-kind donations before the auction began, and donors gave an additional $50,000 during the event itself.
Ferrari debuted the F12 Berlinetta at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and the company is set to deliver its first model to a US customer in the second quarter of 2013. The automaker reminds its fans that it is still possible to donate to the Hurricane Sandy relief fund by visiting a special Ferrari section of the American Red Cross page. Former Dolphin Richie Incognito takes a bat to his own Ferrari [w/video]

Richie Incognito, the former Miami Dolphin's offensive lineman, reportedly vandalized his own new Ferrari FF with a baseball bat on Wednesday, in a story that is just the latest bizarre event to befall the professional football player.
Initial reports indicated that Incognito's car was vandalized and, weirdly, covered in t-shirts bearing the player's name. Following those reports, though, Incognito then told police that he attacked the black FF, although we're still unsure as of why.
Incognito has been in the news of late, following reports from the Miami Dolphins regarding his hazing of teammate Jonathan Martin. As for the Ferrari, damage seems rather light considering it was attacked with a bat by a 320-pound NFL offensive lineman. There are some dings and dents in the hood, and there's a piece of bat lodged in the grille, but beyond that, it looks like this FF will live to drive another day. LaFerrari still being honed at N"urburgring

Ferrari might have jumped the gun debuting the LaFerrari hypercar at the Geneva Motor Show, judging by these spy shots. There have already been rumors that the nearly 1,000-horsepower hybrid still needed some finalizing, but it seems really quite odd that we're seeing cars running with camo six months after the official debut.
So here are our theories as to what this might be. First, the likely case is that this car is merely taking part in finalization of the LaFerrari. The two more sensational theories we've brewed up are a bit more unlikely. This could be a prototype of the once-rumored Maserati MC12 successor, with the camo in place to hide sheetmetal specific to a Maserati. The second, and in our minds, least likely scenario, is that this is a prototype of a more hardcore or competition variant of the LaFerrari, along the lines of the Enzo-based FXX.
Admittedly, that last option is really grasping at straws, but the last camo'd car we saw sported a unique exhaust, that our spy noted as being significantly louder than an uncovered model that was running alongside. While the timing seems odd - a mere six months after the debut of a car that isn't even on sale yet - it's not outside of Ferrari custom to release more potent, track-only versions of its hypercars.
