1983 Ferrari 308 Gts Quattrovalvole All Original Immaculate Condition on 2040-cars
Los Altos, California, United States
Up for auction is:
1983 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole USA model. Condition: It is all original. It is in immaculate condition and runs great. It just passed smog without any issues. History: It is a California car and has had 3 owners. It was purchased at Newport Imports in Newport Beach CA on July 27, 1983. The first owner, from Westlake Village in the Northern Los Angeles area, owned it until 1994. The car spent the next 11 years in Orinda, CA in the San Francisco Bay Area, until it was purchased by its current owner in 2005. The third owner kept the vehicle garaged in his home in San Francisco. Odometer disclosure: The odometer malfunctioned for about 5 years and did not record miles driven (a common problem on these cars according to Patrick Ottis company- one of the top Ferrari experts I'm the US.). The car was driven very little and so the recorded mileage is probably only off from the true mileage by about 5,000 miles. Maintenance: For the last 10+ years the case has been maintained by Patrick Ottis Company in Berkeley. Patrick is considered one of the top Ferrari mechanics in the US. The last major engine out service (cam belt etc.) was performed in 2007 at a cost of $8500 (see photo of last page of multi page receipt showing total repair cost). The tires are in very good condition and the battery is a couple weeks old. Stereo: It has a high end Sony CD player, Linear amps, and ADS speakers. What's included: Included are all the original manuals and books, tools, parts manual, and car cover. Info for viewing in person: The car is available for viewing in Los Altos, CA. Interested parties are welcome to have it inspected by a Ferrari mechanic prior to purchase. Questions: Feel free to call Ismael at 4zero83 7three 6one nine 5 with any questions. |

Nissan GT-R and Ferrari 458 Speciale in track battle by Evo
Thu, 14 Aug 2014Supercar slayer. That's what they call the Nissan GT-R. And in many ways it is, even though its price and performance over the years have risen to put it squarely in supercar territory of its own right.
In fact, as Evo magazine has been compiling a list of its fastest cars - using the Anglesey Circuit in Wales as its common ground - the GT-R has came out on top... that is, until Evo tested the Ferrari 458 Speciale. The two are about as different as you can get within the supercar segment: one has a turbo six up front driving all four wheels in a 2+2 configuration, the other a mid-engined, rear-drive V8 two-seater. In fact the only common ground you're likely to find between them comes down to their two doors and dual-clutch transmissions. Though they serve it up in different ways, both are class-leading performers.
We're looking forward to watching Evo populate its leaderboard with more entries like the McLaren 650S and more potent Nismo GT-R, but in the meantime the British enthusiast magazine, by popular demand, has released side-by-side in-car footage of both supercars putting their best lap forward around the seaside circuit.
Race Recap: 2014 Australian Grand Prix quietly opens the new F1 era [spoilers]
Sun, 16 Mar 2014The first chapter of the new Formula One era has been written with the conclusion of the Australian Grand Prix, and it included a rookie rush, some resurgent and some unsurprising performances, the sound of screeching tires and a couple of firsts.
Outside predictions as to the pace of the Mercedes AMG Petronas team were proved as soon as the Friday practice sessions, with Lewis Hamilton recovering from an engine sensor fault in the first session to top the second, followed by teammate Nico Rosberg. That didn't change come the start of qualifying, not even the rain slowing down the Silver Arrows, Hamilton taking pole as the last man across the line in Q3.
The surprises were in the order behind him, with new Infiniti Red Bull Racing man Daniel Ricciardo grabbing second spot just three-tenths of a second down on Hamilton. Ricciardo not only looked like he belonged at the front of the grid the entire weekend, but he seems to have reversed the Mark Webber jinx: four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel had car issues and didn't get into Q3, having to settle for 13th on the grid.
Ferrari testing 458 successor in the snow?
Thu, 03 Apr 2014It may not seem so long ago that Ferrari introduced the 458 Italia. But it's been on the market a solid 5 years since its launch in 2009, which makes it not only the oldest model in the company's lineup, but one of the oldest in its segment, the Lamborghini Huracan and McLaren 650S just having been launched in the past couple of months. So while a solitary Ferrari playing in the snow might otherwise seem like little more than an unlikely place for it to be, its chronology suggests the crew from Maranello could be up to something more.
The white 458 captured by our spy photographers in Northern Sweden appears to have something going on around its wheel arches. Aside from the panel gap that's taped up between the quarter panel and rear fender in front of the rear wheel arch, there appear to be some modifications around the front wheel arch. Just what they're for, we don't know, but their presence suggests something's up.
The test mule pictured here could be simply testing some new components, for whatever application, but if this is indeed a prototype for the 458's replacement, we'll probably start seeing more of these from here on in before the finished product comes around within the next couple of years - by which time the 458 will be a good seven years old, longer than the F430 or 360 Modena before it were on the market.
