This truck is in overall very good condition. Everything works as it should and preventive maintenance has always
been a priority. Truck has the bulletproof 5.9L Cummins Turbodiesel engine. This 2006 was the last FULL year of
production, before changing to the 6.7 with all of the exhaust aftertreatment. These 5.9's run forever, and this
one has never had any problems or issues. Truck currently has Amsoil premium synthetic fluids front to rear, with
an engine oil, filter, fuel filter and air filter change done May 15th. It is nicely equipped with the Thunderroad
package, navigation and a DVD entertainment system. Some of the added equipment is as follows:
MBRP stainless steel exhaust, turbo back
Toyo Open Country ATII all terrain tires
Pacbrake exhaust brake, with onboard air and rear airbags
Two Diehard Platinum batteries (rebranded Odyssey batteries)
Leer fiberglass cap
Reese Titan 2 1/2" receiver hitch
I am the second owner, and I have owned this truck since May of 2011. It had 66k miles when I bought it. It has had
the steering upgrade performed by Dodge under recall. The truck has been problem free during my ownership. I was
rear-ended at low speed at a traffic light a few years back and the only damage was the bumper and hitch. The
tailgate had some small dents that were repaired with paintless dent repair. Bumper and hitch were both replaced.
Recent maintenance includes the following:
Ball joints - about 20-25k miles on them
Brakes all around - replaced with EBC pads and rotors, 12k miles on them
Rear calipers - both replaced last month since one was sticky
New water pump, tensioner, idler, hoses, thermostat and belt in 2015
Trans flush in 2015
I have a repair manual that I will include with the sale. I also have the factory exhaust that I will include,
including the CAT. I carry a full set of spare U-Joints that I will also include, and a spare fuel filter. Also a
spare trans filter.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.

2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad soldiers on in the Chi

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

Introduced to the market in 2008 and updated in 2011, the Dodge Journey crossover has had all the freshness of a retirement village in recent years. Filling a potentially important niche for Dodge as an affordable, family-sized vehicle, the Journey has gotten one last mild refresh here in Chicago. Feast your mild-appearance-package-loving eyes on the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad.
We can't be sure if the inspiration for the Crossroad appellation was the 2002 blockbuster film, Crossroads, starring Britney Spears, or the 1986 cult-classic, Crossroads, starring Ralph Macchio, but based on the CUV's newfound boyish charm, we're betting on the Karate Kid.
Dark finish 19-inch wheels, platinum chrome accents and a manly new front fascia tell the world that this isn't the Dodge Journey that they've long since forgotten about. In fairness, the Crossroad is easily the best-looking iteration of the Journey to date, and should be better to live with, too, considering its revised cabin, leather seats and standard Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system.

2015 Dodge Viper getting small increase in power

Tue, 29 Jul 2014

The Viper is used to being the most powerful car in the Dodge and SRT stables, but the arrival of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat means that's no longer the case. The serpentine supercar is, however, reportedly getting a small boost in output for 2015, amounting to all of five horsepower.
The increase was uncovered by Road & Track courtesy of the SAE J1349 certification process to which Detroit's Big Three automakers submit themselves and which reports the Viper's output at 645 hp instead of the 640 it was rated at until now. There are a hundred factors that could have contributed to the relatively mild boost in output (best guess? nothing at all changed...), but we doubt anyone's going to complain about some extra horses under the hood.
The five-horsepower boost brings the Viper that much closer to the 650-hp Chevy Corvette Z06, not to mention the 707-hp Hellcat, but the Viper's impressive power-to-weight ratio ought to mean it'll have little problem keeping up in a straight line - which is just one of the reasons why Chrysler won't shoe-horn the Hellcat into the Viper: as R&T points out, the supercharged engine is too heavy and the blower makes it too tall to fit in the Viper's engine bay.
