1996 Dodge Ram 1500 Base Extended Cab Pickup 2-door 5.2l on 2040-cars
Sarasota, Florida, United States
Selling my 1996 Ram after years of reliable service. It was my daily driver until I bought my new one. I have owned this truck for 12 1/2 years and it has been accident free in that time. Carfax shows 2 previous owners with no accidents reported. Florida truck for its whole life. This truck has been well maintained and still runs great although could probably use a tune up. The AC blows cold and it has a Sony AM/FM w/cd player and MP3 hookup. It has a Rhino spray in bed liner still in good shape. It also has a tow package.
Engine: 5.2 liter 318 c.i.d. Oil has been changed faithfully @ every 3-4000 miles. One thing it is doing is at operating temp. the oil pressure drops. It is fine at 40 lbs. when driving but drops off at idle. I suspect it may need an oil pump although it may be just sending unit. Just haven't had time to test it. Tires: Firestone 10 ply - backs were put on last year. probably 3/4 tread left - fronts about 2 yrs. old w/ probably 1/2 tread left Transmission: Automatic - just rebuilt fall of 2013. Interior: The dash on this truck stayed nice longer than some but finally succumbed to the famous Dodge crack-up. Could use a cover. The headliner has some spots and tears in it. The interior is not bad but not perfect either. |

Roadkill pits every project car against each other
Sat, 22 Feb 2014The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
2014 Dodge Durango teaser reveals new 'racetrack' taillights
Fri, 22 Mar 2013Not wanting to let Jeep get all of the SUV attention for the 2014 model year, Dodge is unveiling a refreshed version of its Durango at the New York Auto Show. Teased in this image, all we can really tell about the 2014 Dodge Durango is that it will be getting Dodge's "racetrack" taillights similar to the Charger and Dart.
The chrome or painted strip currently between the Durango's Zorro taillamps have been removed to allow for a full-width LED array with "DODGE" lettering displayed more prominently above the license plate pocket. Parent company Chrysler also promises that the updated Durango will add "several new class-exclusive features," but stops short of saying what those are. Earlier reports suggest that among the changes, buyers will be able to look forward to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, which ought to improve the three-row SUV's fuel efficiency.
Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout
Mon, 03 Nov 2014Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.
