1955 Dodge Rat Rod, Ready To Cruise, Daily Driven Hot Ratrod V8 No Reserve on 2040-cars
Richmond, Virginia, United States
This is a ready to drive Rat Rod. Nice patina, draws attention wherever it goes. I have driven it daily and it is very reliable and pretty fast. The gauges are all functional and include speed/odo, fuel, oil pressure, coolant temp. It was entered in the spring 2014 Rockabilly riot and won best truck. All lights and signals work, it has a horn and 1 windshield wiper. Electric Pusher fan keeps it cool in heavy traffic. Heat works and the vintage air box has components for a/c if you wish to add it. The original "Job Rated" cab has been channeled over the frame and welded into a 2000 chevy S-10 floor pan. The frame is from the same s-10 giving the truck a nice stance, good ride and excellent handling. The rear has been lowered with 2" blocks and the front is still sitting on stock suspension. It would be easy to lower this even more with s-10 components or airbags to make it really low but as a DD its a great ride. The bed is early 50's chevy and has been placed on the s-10 bed floor and reinforced, I have hauled everything from motorcycles to couches in the bed. The 350/turbo 350 driveline mated to an 8.5" rear diff with highway gears even does ok on fuel, my best was just over 20mpg. Edelbrock performer carb and intake with a 1" riser. There is an HEI distributor for low maintenance. Headers into glass packs with side exits sound good without being unreasonably loud. I have a lot of extras to go with it, a brand new trans cooler, a bunch of sheet metal including patches for the door bottoms and flat metal to make skirts on the bed. I have rear fenders that could be altered to install. This little ride even has a spare tire and tools incase you ever get a flat.
The cab has plenty of room for taller occupants, I have had guys 6'5" tall in it with plenty of room left. |

2014 Dodge Durango bows with eight-speed auto, updated looks [w/video]
Thu, 28 Mar 2013Dodge has significantly updated its full-size Durango for the 2014 model year, giving the seven-passenger hauler a fresh look and a well-rounded boost of competitive features as it enters its fourth year in the showroom.
Cosmetically, it is hard to miss the revised front end with projector-beam headlamps and LED daytime running lamps, "floating" crosshair grille, a taller front bumper and a new lower fascia. The rear end of the facelifted Durango has been redesigned with the automaker's now-signature LED "racetrack" taillamps and resculpted rear fascia. All of the wheels are new too, with 18- and 20-inch options for each trim level with a variety of factory finishes.
Inside the cabin, buyers can select the automaker's latest Uconnect infotainment system with a full suite of infotainment features and connectivity accessed through an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Other optional goodies include a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seating and a Blu-Ray player capable of running unique programs on the twin individual rear monitors.
2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop glosses over performance
Tue, 14 Jan 2014The Dodge Dart is a decent little car. It's honest, basic transportation, and many of us at Autoblog are genuinely fond of the Alfa Romeo-based compact sedan. For 2014, not a whole lot changes in the Dart world, save the addition of this new Blacktop edition that makes its debut here at the Detroit Auto Show.
It's all very simple, this Blacktop package, and doesn't actually alter performance in any way. Instead, buyers are treated to blacked-out exterior bits like 18-inch wheels, the crosshair grille and headlamp bezels. Inside, black/tungsten or black/red cloth seats are available, with red contrast stitching throughout the cabin.
Adding the Blacktop pack to your Dart SXT with the Rallye Appearance Group will set you back a scant $295, and while it's just an appearance package, it all looks pretty nice to us.
SRT reveals Satin Vapor Edition 300, Charger and Challenger SRT models
Fri, 07 Feb 2014With the exception of some notable truck and van introductions, Chrysler brands have tended to use the Chicago Auto Show to bring out new special editions, pimp their aftermarket parts support or indulge in the occasional flight of fancy. That plan is holding true for 2014, as well. Cases in point are these new Satin Vapor Editions of the 2014-model-year Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 - all from SRT.
The Satin Vapor name may sound like a failed 1970s glam-rock band, or a pseudo-gynecological diagnosis from the Old West, but is, in fact, pretty much a tape-and-trim package for this trio of hi-po Mopars. 300, Challenger and Charger alike come shod with 20-inch aluminum wheels finished in Black Satin Vapor Chrome, and are accented with Satin Black bits aplenty. The 300 gets blacked-out mirrors, spoiler and roof; the Challenger applies it to mirrors and its fuel door; while the Charger has the stuff covering its roof, hood and Super Bee tail graphic.
Interiors of the cars have been mildly updated as well, with all three getting some combination of Nappa leather, ultra-suede and carbon-fiberish finishes.
