For sale is this 1998 Dodge Durango 4x4 that I've owned for a few years. I'm selling it because it has been a spare vehicle and has been sitting more than it has been driven. The engine is the 5.9L which runs good. The truck drives, steers and brakes good. The transmission shifts good and the 4 wheel drive works as should. There is no engine or warning lights on. The exterior is in fair shape with only minor dings and dents and no rust showing. Paint is ok with normal scratches and flaking in various areas. The two R side doors have had body work done on them and repainted, but the paint shade doesn't really match the rest of the truck. The interior is in fair condition with full power, cassette and CD player. Drivers seat cushion is missing a chunk, driver door speaker does not work, and AC did work but now is not working. Tires are 32x11.50x15 and tread is about 1/2 worn. This truck has been a good dependable 4x4 which seats up to 7 people, and will drive across country as is if needed. Chrysler recalling 2009-2010 Ram 1500, Dodge Dakota pickups over axle pinion nut
Mon, 08 Oct 2012Chrysler is issuing a recall for the 2009 and 2010 Ram 1500 and Dodge Dakota pickup trucks due to improper installation of the rear axle pinion nut. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 44,300 trucks are affected by the recall, and there have been 12 confirmed incidents including one crash.
The issue on both trucks is that the pinion nut is loosening on some trucks due to a lack of thread adhesive, and it is causing the rear axle to lock up resulting in loss of vehicle control. NHTSA's recall notice says that eight incidents occurred at speeds over 35 miles per hour and most also exhibited driveshaft failures as well since the loss of the pinion nut would cause the gear to separate from the driveshaft. In one complaint, the driveshaft separated from the rear axle and punctured the gas tank.
Chrysler will begin sending out recall notices to affected owners in November, but scroll down to see the official NHTSA notice.

A raft of important production models from the last hundred years were available for me to either drive or ride in.
Dodge is 100 years old this year. So, as happened on Ford's recent centennial, the 50-year birthday of the Porsche 911, and others, the company has an excuse to trot out the highlights of its history next to its upcoming model lineup, and declare that "these are the fruits of the Dodge Boys' tree whose roots have grown strong." Or something like that. Never so hampered by marketing skepticism that I'll pass up the opportunity to burn someone else's rubber, I was happy to drive out to Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester Hills, MI - former grand estate of the Dodge family - to hear the spiel.

But, there are some things you might not know or might have missed about the new Charger and Challenger Hellcats. For starters, reports that the Hellcat production would be limited to a low volume are not true.
"We have not capped the Hellcat on either the Challenger or the Charger," Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said.
