Rare Opportunity 1966 Hemi Coronet Convertible Survivor on 2040-cars

Folks what we have here is a rare piece of automotive history and a rare opportunity to own it. What you are bidding on is a 1966 Hemi Coronet Convertible. This is the first year Dodge produced the Coronet with the Legendary Hemi powerplant between the fenders (for the general public) and the big bonuses are it is a survivor and convertible. This is one of only nine produced in 1966. It has a mere 5600 miles on the clock. The car was purchased on 29 March, 1966 from Frontier Dodge in Cincinnati Ohio and has stayed in the Cincinnati area it's entire life, changing hands only three times. As you can see in the pictures this is a well preserved original piece. There are scratches in the paint as the original owner lived in a neighborhood where houses were close together and garages were small and narrow; he had children and it is my guess they had bicycles and put some scratches in the exterior sides but nothing to warrant refinishing the entire car thus destroying the original finish. The interior is all original and in excellent condition as is the convertible top.
The Iconic Hemi Powerplant is strong and runs superb. As you can see in the pictures the car is so original that it has the original spark plug wires. Yes, these are original and not a reproduction. Also, in the windshield is the original 1966 City of Cincinnati Safety Lane Inspection sticker. I have the original Certi Card, original window sticker and original title in originals owners name. I also have another unique of documentation an that would be four original build sheets, you are lucky if you find one in your car; I have four, how is that for documentation. This car is uniquely optioned, besides the Hemi engine it has power steering, power brakes and power windows. The only parts known to be not original to the car from new are the fuel filters, the tires, I believe the Magnum 500's were dealer installed, and the complete exhaust system. As you can see in the pictures the exhaust is new and made to original 1966 specs. This incredible car is the recipient of several survivor awards. Galen Govier, signed and presented a previous owner with an award in 1999. Of the nine convertibles built with the automatic transmission I can not recall ever seeing another besides this one and I have been to many shows, not to say I have the only one in existence, but I'm pretty sure you will not easily find another survivor in this condition. Chevy Corvette Stingray defeating rivals where it matters most
Wed, 16 Jul 2014Everything is coming up roses for the award-winning Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, as new data from the North American Dealers Association dissected by GM Authority reveals that America's sports car is handily outselling two of its more expensive rivals.
Through June of 2014, the NADA notes that the Corvette has rung up 17,744 sales, handily besting the Porsche 911 and positively spanking the SRT Viper. Of course, you're sitting there thinking, "Corvette is outselling the much more expensive Porsche and Viper. Sky blue, water wet." But what's impressive here is just how thoroughly the Chevrolet is beating its two rivals, with this data serving as a testament to just how popular the seventh-generation sports car has become.
So far this year, Porsche has managed to move 5,169 911s, according to NADA. Considering that the base model starts at nearly $15,000 more than the most heavily optioned Stingray, and that Porsche owners have a vast, expensive options catalogue to select from, Stuttgart's sales are still plenty impressive in relation to the nearly 18,000 Corvettes sold.
2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with '600-plus horsepower' officially unveiled [w/video]
Tue, 20 May 2014Dodge has officially unveiled the most powerful vehicle to ever wear the Challenger name - the SRT Hellcat - complete with over 600 horsepower courtesy of a supercharged, 6.2-liter Hemi V8. It will be offered alongside the 485-hp Challenger SRT.
The new, force-induced V8 isn't just the most powerful ever fitted to the Challenger, it's the most powerful eight-cylinder Chrysler Group has ever built. Power figures aren't finalized, so expect to see "over 600 hp" bandied about quite a lot. That fury will be channeled through either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Yes, over 600 ponies through an eight-speed auto. So far, the only vehicle we know of that delivers more output through that many gears is the as-yet untested Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Sadly, we don't have performance metrics just yet, although if this thing can't crack four seconds to 60 miles per hour, we'll be pretty surprised.
As is the theme nowadays, the 2015 Challenger SRT features a number of driving modes, governing power output, shift speeds for the 8AT, steering effort, traction control settings and suspension settings. There are three pre-programmed options - Default, Sport and Track - and a Custom mode that allows drivers to mix and match to their heart's content.
Dodge Viper recall requires small-handed mechanics
Fri, 25 Apr 2014It has been over a year since Chrysler first announced its recall of 3,660 2003-2004 Dodge Vipers because the airbag could suddenly deploy. The repairs are finally beginning, and it appears to be a nightmare for mechanics.
According to the automaker's filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the airbag control module can fail, which causes the bag or the seatbelt pre-tensioner to deploy without warning. It took over a year to design the new parts, according to The New York Times. However, Chrysler finally has a new "jumper harness with an in-line diode filter circuit" ready to fix the problem.
The dilemma now moves to the mechanics who have to actually install the part. A 47-step guide from Chrysler explains that the procedure should take about two hours. It's not an easy job, though. Most of the dashboard has to be taken apart, and the instructions include this helpful bit of advice: "Installing the jumper harness and filter box into position is not an easy task. Patience, perseverance, and small hands are required." We wish the best of luck to them. The fix comes just in time for the Vipers to enjoy the summer sun.
