1970 Dodge Charger R/T One owner car for 44 years! This is an ALL numbers matching real '70 Charger R/T 440 Magnum console automatic car. Factory FE5 Rally Red, Black interior, Black top and Black tail stripe, power steering, bucket seats, console, AM radio, rallye wheels and cruise control added in 1972 (paperwork included). Other than one older re-paint from back in the '80's this is an unrestored all original car right on down to the original carpet! Paint looks good but is showing its age in some areas and there is a small amount of rust showing in the lower 1/4's. Frame rails are solid and as well as the trunk floor which is just showing some surface rust on it. The underside is rock solid but it has a coating of dirt/dust from years of the original owner driving on dirt roads. The interior is in overall great shape but does have a couple splits in the drivers seat and the headliner has some wear. As an unrestored car there is some aging and wear but overall this is a very nice original car. The car had been stored inside and was just sitting for the last few years so I replaced the gas tank and sending unit, the gas lines were cleaned and flushed and a new fuel filter added. The carb was opened up and cleaned and the oil and filter were changed. The car starts and runs great! The brakes are a bit soft and the exhaust and tires are older. The car runs and drives good but probably could use some maintenance to be 100% reliable and fully road worthy for long trips. Again, this is an all numbers matching car where all of body numbers match the original engine numbers, the original transmission numbers, the original door VIN sticker, the original VIN tag, the original fender tag and the title. It also has the original carburetor, distributer, radiator, heads, intake, exhaust manifolds, air cleaner and more. Included is the original dealership invoice/bill of sale, the original cancelled checks from when the original owner put $100 down on it and then paid it in full new, the original owners manual, the original warranty paperwork and some older receipts

Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker and Mopar '14 Challenger up the retro appeal

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

The reborn Dodge Challenger might be getting a bit long in the tooth, having been on the market in its current form since 2008, but Chrysler isn't going to give up on its brutish, full-size two-door just yet. For this year's SEMA Show, the Challenger will be getting a new Mopar edition, as well as a retro-cool shaker hood on the 5.7-liter, Hemi-equipped R/T models.
As we mentioned last night, the Shaker Package will cost $2,500, but includes the Super Track Pak (new steering rack, brake linings, upgraded shocks and 20-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car tires), a $595 option on its own. The shaker hood result in a performance bump of any kind, but the blacked-out, pop-up scoop is a nifty feature that hasn't been seen on a production car since the Ford Mustang Mach 1 in the early 2000s.
The Mopar '14 Challenger (pictured right) follows the cues of previous Mopar Editions, which have included the 2010 Challenger, 2011 Charger, 2012 300 and 2013 Dart. Only 100 Mopar '14 Challengers will be produced, and they'll include the new shaker hood, Mopar's distinctive blue graphics and wheels, and whatever is pilfered from the accessory catalog.

Dodge CEO and Gas Monkey Garage dissect the 10-second Challenger Hellcat

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

So far, whenever we've seen the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with its 707-horsepower, supercharged Hellcat V8, the muscle car has been smoking its tires. Dodge is finally proving that the SRT can do more than ruin perfectly good sets of rubber, though. In it's latest video, company CEO Tim Kuniskis hands the Hellcat off to the guys from Gas Monkey Garage to show how quickly the automaker's most powerful model can make it down the drag strip.
Of course, the only fitting contender to race against Dodge's latest top muscle car is its grandpa - a Hemi-powered 1971 Challenger, in this case. Before getting to the main event, the hosts also show off some of the SRT's unique features like the blanks in the grille that feed the intercoolers. We'll go ahead and spoil that the Hellcat makes its pass in the 10-second range, and the video admits the tires on the production version would take just a touch longer to cover the quarter-mile. However, you have to watch film to see just how quick it actually goes. Scroll down to see a classic example of American muscle drag racing against its modern legacy.

I sold my Viper, but the memories I'll keep

Thu, 30 May 2013

The following is written by auto industry veteran Tow Kowaleski. The words are his own, but the memories now belong to everyone thanks to his willingness to share. If you're an industry veteran with a story to share, contact us at tipsATautoblogDOTcom.
It became the flame that started the fire of belief in the next life of Chrysler.
I just sold a car. Nothing new. Millions do it every day. But my car was a 1995 Dodge Viper, so maybe it was a bit more unique since just 12,000 were built. And like others selling a car that's been a part of the family for close to 20 years, this was a confluence of emotions for me. I was sad to see it go, but happy to have the cash and one less big, shiny, under-utilized object in my life.
