Howdy,

I'm selling my 1969 Charger.  Somewhat begrudgingly.  I love the car, I'm just not driving it that much lately.  And you'll notice a pic of a 1969 Coronet.  I figured I should bankroll another project.  Anyhow, Here's a little description for you.  I bought this car 6 years ago.  When I bought it the body had just received a frame off restoration with fresh paint.  It had a brand new TCI 727 Sizzler transmission and a freshly rebuilt bored out 30 over 383.  None of this had been assembled.  There was no interior in the car, no body trim, no vinyl top, and some nasty old 72 rims.  I put the car together and did the entire interior.  The vinyl top I had professionally done.  As you can see from the pics the car is beautiful and I assure you in runs very well.  Brakes, suspension, and bushings were all new at time of restoration.  They are all in great condition.  I used to live in rural Oregon and regularly drove the car on weekends along those beatiful highways where few people go.  This is where the car belongs.  It wants to run.  It's not tuned for stop and go traffic.  Since moving to the Bay Area a couple of years ago, dealing with traffic all the time, I just don't feel like driving in my off time and would feel terrible subjecting such a beauty to nasty Bay Area commute traffic.  Hence the sell.  The rims are excellent condition 71 rallys.  I had debated mags but I had these and I decided I really liked them once I put them on.  They are real metal hubs with new trim rings.  The tires are barely used BF Goodrich radial T/As.  Honestly the car has all of 3000 miles on it since restoration.  All of the gauges and lights work except the turn signal indicators on the front hood.  A couple of the gauges read a little off.  The fuel is empty when it reads a quarter full and the needle is buried when you fill it.  Things like that.  The vacume headlight doors work great.  The radio does not work.  The undercarriage is immaculate and I plan on including a couple of pics to show that soon.  There is no rust on this car at all.  There are however a couple of small body issues.  Two driver side door dings.  And I believe a tire of a large pickup rubbed at the juncture or the driver door and front fender.  The car was stored inside for all but 5 months since I've had it.  Unfortunately I was out of town for a couple of months when a storm hit and water got under the car cover.  It formed a bunch of little bubbles on the horizontal surfaces.  These are tiny and unnoticable from 5 feet away.  I included a pic of the one bubble I opened up to see if there was any undercoat damage.  There is not.  This is strictly a surface coat issue.  It happened 5 years ago and there has been no change.  Another unusual feature of this car.  It is registered as a 68 Charger.  I am not entirely sure why.  If you know your Chargers you can see that there is nothing that is not 1969 about this car except for the engine color.  It may be that that the fellow I bought it from had two bad Chargers and made one good one.  I don't know.  $1000 to be paid within 24hrs of completion of auction.  The balance will need to clear before I turn over the title.  I accept Paypal, Cashiers Check, Money Order, or Cash.  The reserve is upper mid 20's.  The vehicle will need to be picked up within 3 weeks of payment.  I am happy to meet a shipper for pickup.  Email if you have any questions.  Thanks for reading!

2013 Dodge Durango R/T

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Not too long ago, Chevrolet got itself into some trouble by throwing the SS badge on just about everything it produced, so I've always been a little hesitant about the seemingly excessive use of the R/T nameplate on Dodge vehicles. For the 2013 model year, every model in Dodge's lineup has an R/T trim level from Dart all the way up to the Durango. Although the R/T name used to signified models made for road and track, I doubt anyone would be delusional enough to assume the Durango - and some of the other models wearing this badge - are suited for any sort of track duty.
Still, when this 2013 Dodge Durango R/T rolled up for me to drive for the week, I couldn't help but take in its big, mean and imposing stance. Sure, if I had my choice of buying any of the Dodge R/T products, the Charger and Challenger would be my top picks for sure, but it's easy to say that the Durango would be a close third - far above the R/T versions of the Avenger, Journey and Grand Caravan.

Chrysler minivans under investigation for stalling after fuel refill

Wed, 10 Sep 2014

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, at least one man has reported that his 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan stalled unexpectedly on the highway shortly after being refueled. The unidentified man who contacted NHTSA regarding the issue cited as many as eight similar instances reported by other drivers.
NHTSA has announced that it will launch an inquiry into this issue, which could affect as many as 160,000 minivans from Dodge and Chrysler that were sold in 2007 (or more, if a problem is found that extends to additional models years, we'd assume). As of yet, there's no formal investigation, let alone a recall, on these vans, as the agency is merely determining if further action is needed.
Two months ago, Chrysler recalled nearly 700,000 vehicles, the majority of which were minivans, from the 2008-2010 model years to replace ignition switches after an investigation found that their weak springs and detent positions could fool a driver into thinking the car was in the "Run" position, when it's actually in the "Accessory" position.

Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.
