1968 Chrysler Town And Country Wagon on 2040-cars
New Tazewell, Tennessee, United States
This is an original 1968 Chrysler Town and Country
wagon. It was
purchased new on December 13, 1967, by Mr. Edward B. Robinson at Bill Binko
Chrysler Plymouth in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Mr. Robinson paid $6,051.06. I have
the original title, sales agreement, and dealer invoice. It has a 383ci engine.
It is missing the driver’s side kick panel and the antenna. I actually have the antenna and the base, but it has been broken. The very end of the hood has some holes due to rust. I think it was dripped on over the years. These are the only holes in the car. The rest of the body is solid with some minor areas of surface rust. The car was undercoated when new and the undercarriage is solid. It runs and moves, but the brakes need to be bled before it can be driven. The car will need some restoration work, but with a little tinkering you could have her ready for the local cruise-ins and car shows. After than you can restore it while you drive it. The interior is in original condition. The seams have split on the bottom portion of the front seat (see photos). The rear seat and rear facing seat are in excellent condition. The door panels and headliner are in great shape as well. The dash is free of cracks. All of the glass is good and free of cracks or hazing. Volkswagen Routan dead one last time
Wed, 25 Sep 2013Volkswagen halted production of the Routan minivan in late 2012 due to low sales volume, but there were reports swirling around that it would live on and continue production alongside the closely related Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan. But now VW says that it will indeed stop Routan production for good, The Detroit Bureau reports.
As of our report in March, VW hadn't built a single Routan in 2013, and we can't imagine things have gotten much better for the minivan since then. The Detroit Bureau reports that VW produced some 2014 Routans, but they aren't for sale to the public - they are fleet-only affairs.
VW originally intended to sell between 45,000 and 50,000 Routans per year, but since it was introduced for the 2009 model year, annual sales of the minivan have averaged only 11,500 units. VW has sold 57,683 Routans total.
Detroit Three autoworkers could get huge bonuses
Mon, 06 Jan 2014For a long time, being a line worker for one of the Detroit Three has meant living with an uncertain future. With the health of American automakers on the rise, though, things are also starting to look up for the men and women building the cars. The latest sign that things aren't bad? Big profit-sharing checks.
According to The Detroit News, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler could end up paying over $800 million to 130,000 workers as part of a profit-sharing plan. According to The News, the economic impact of these profits in Michigan alone could exceed $400 million, besting the NFL's Super Bowl, MLB's All-Star Game and the NHL's Winter Classic for their economic impact.
This is the third straight year the Detroit Three have issued profit-sharing checks to UAW employees, and for many workers, the checks are as close as they'll get to a raise, due to the most recent contract between the union and the manufacturers. On average, employees at GM and Ford receive $1 for every $1 million in North American (not just the US) pre-tax profits. Chrysler, meanwhile, gets a similar deal, although the Auburn Hills-based company calculates profit sharing using 85 percent of the brand's global profits.
2013.5 Chrysler 200 S Special Edition is a Sebring swan song
Wed, 27 Mar 2013
The world is set to get an all-new Chrysler 200 next year, thereby finally putting the bones of the long-serving Sebring to rest. To tide us all over until then, the automaker has released the 2013.5 200 S Special Edition. As a collaboration between Chrysler and the Imported from Detroit clothing line, the sedan features plenty of aesthetic tweaks to give it a bit more attitude. Those include tinted headlamp and taillamp housings, body-color door sills and 18-inch gloss black wheels. There's also a revised front fascia with a black mesh grille, while the tail end gets a decklid spoiler and a revised valance.
Indoors, the seats are clad in black, water-resistant fabric courtesy of Carhartt. Expect to see the 2013.5 200 S Special Edition in dealers soon with a price tag of $28,870. While there are plenty of questions to be asked here, one is more nagging than the others. Why bother buying the special edition when an all-new model is mere months away? It's an age-old question, but it still bears asking. Check out the full press release below for more information.
