1966 Chrysler New Yorker.  This car has been sitting for several years.  As can be seen from photos, this is a very rare and restorable coupe.  The body is pretty straight, with a couple of exceptions as shown in photos.  It appears to have minimal rust, mostly on the bottom edge of skirts.  The trunk and floor boards appear to be solid.  The paint is poor, especially on top, as seen in photos.  Chrome looks mostly straight (not perfect) with some surface rust showing on bumpers.  The interior is complete and fairly presentable, with the exception of the headliner, which has a few cuts and the front seats, which have noticeable problems.  The door panels, dash pad, and back seat appear to be in fairly good condition.

The engine appears to be an original 440 Magnum (I'm not an expert, so ask for verification if important) with a four barrel carb.  The engine does not run at this time but I have hand cranked it to verify it isn't seized.  The gas tank was removed by a previous owner (for unknown reasons) but the car comes with another tank which is assumed to be an accurate replacement (since I didn't buy it, I can't guarantee it).  The tires are in poor condition.  Clean and clear Idaho title.

My description is as accurate as possible.  I am sure there are other issues with the car, of which I am unaware.  If you have questions, please ask.  I am happy to provide more pictures or answer any questions you may have.  You can email or call 509.570.4046.  The car is auctioned without warranty, in its as-is condition. Unless approved by seller, the car needs to be removed within 10 days of auction close.

The last photo is my 1966 Chrysler Newport, to give you an idea how these C-bodies look with a set of 18s on them.

Detroit Three autoworkers could get huge bonuses

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

For a long time, being a line worker for one of the Detroit Three has meant living with an uncertain future. With the health of American automakers on the rise, though, things are also starting to look up for the men and women building the cars. The latest sign that things aren't bad? Big profit-sharing checks.
According to The Detroit News, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler could end up paying over $800 million to 130,000 workers as part of a profit-sharing plan. According to The News, the economic impact of these profits in Michigan alone could exceed $400 million, besting the NFL's Super Bowl, MLB's All-Star Game and the NHL's Winter Classic for their economic impact.
This is the third straight year the Detroit Three have issued profit-sharing checks to UAW employees, and for many workers, the checks are as close as they'll get to a raise, due to the most recent contract between the union and the manufacturers. On average, employees at GM and Ford receive $1 for every $1 million in North American (not just the US) pre-tax profits. Chrysler, meanwhile, gets a similar deal, although the Auburn Hills-based company calculates profit sharing using 85 percent of the brand's global profits.

Chrysler IPO to be filed as early as this week

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

An initial public offering for the Chrysler Group could happen this week, following Sergio Marchionne's comments to Financial Times in London, according to a report from The Detroit News. Fiat, which owns 58.5 percent of Chrysler, has been in a battle with the UAW retiree healthcare trust over its minority stake in the company. While the automotive union recognizes its role as a temporary shareholder, the two couldn't come to an agreement on how the shares should be priced.
As Marchionne explained to FT, a Chrysler IPO allows the market, rather than the two competing sides, to determine the value of the shares. The public offering is a risky move, which could potentially hang one side out to dry - if the shares go high, it's bad news for Fiat, but if they go low, the UAW stands to lose. Regardless of where the stock prices go in an IPO, though, it's a move that's being supported by analysts, who are quick to cite Chrysler's near-constant growth and a product lineup that is getting healthier with each new introduction.

Chrysler UConnect wins AOL Autos Technology of the Year Award

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The first annual AOL Autos Technology of the Year Award has been won by Chrysler's upgraded UConnect system.
Over 35 entries were considered and narrowed down to six finalists in three categories: Connectivity, Telematics and Active Safety. The judges, which included editors from AOL Autos, Autoblog and Engadget, as well as a number of other auto and tech journalists and luminaries, chose UConnect over the MyFord Mobile app, Audi Connect with Google Maps, Cadillac CUE, Honda's LaneWatch technology and Nissan's Tire Pressure Alert and Refill System. Even readers who were polled on which technology should win chose UConnect.
AOL Autos Editor in Chief David Kiley remarked that Chrysler's UConnect deserved the first Technology of the Year Award not because of what it does, but for how UConnect performs every time it's used. Kiley went on to say UConnect works the way it's supposed to, fills a need and puts a smile on your face. By meeting those requirements, UConnect very much deserved AOL Auto's first Tech of the Year award.
