This is a time capsule survivor car. Under 86,000 original miles in 53 years! Imperials were the most expensive American car in 1960. This car is a rare treasure of the Space Age. It has to be seen in person to fully appreciate how big and cool it is. This car has always been in So. California and could only be preserved this well here. Come an drive her. This is a small leak in the break booster and the top of the windshield washer reservoir needs replacing. Other than that, she is 100% complete and running car. A true steal! Don't bid on this car unless you like a lot of attention. I have become famous with the students of my kids' elementary school from pick-ups in this car. Did I mention the car has it's original paint!!!! There are only some minor bubbling in the paint in a few spots and the cracking of paint by the rear pillars as pictured. The buyer should only have these spot treated and keep the beautiful original paint elsewhere.. The upholstery is great and chrome still looks good. It is 100% straight and has never been hit. All the trim is there. One front running light lens is broken and both of the front fender trim inserts are missing. Other than that, the car is a California time warp. People marvel at the outrageously huge fins and the Flight Sweep toilet seat trunk lid. The car starts immediately and runs well. The brakes were recently overhauled but there is a slow air leak in the power brake booster. You can hear is hiss a little. It needs a new diaphragm. The car has been stored in a garage and hanger at the Torrance Airport. I have a large collection of cars that I rotate. I've had fun with this car but I need to sell for more space and to fund the restoration of other projects. I encourage scheduling a showing before the auction ends. My number is 310-259-5195. The car is being sold with a bill of sale only. The car was last registered in 2005 with the people I bought it from. I have the bill of sale from them. Unfortunately, I know the car will sell for less than it really worth so don't wait and ask if it's still available after the auction ends. This will be a absolute steal, especially when you compare to overpriced Ford, Chevy and Cadillacs of the same vintage. This is a connoisseur's car. Good luck bidding. |

The Aficianauto sets his lens on Black Beauty
Fri, 24 Jan 2014In the short time we've known about the works of The Aficionauto, we've become fans of the video series highlighting some of the most famous and iconic movie/television cars ever. While past episodes featured cars from 1980s movies and tv shows, the latest video shows off the 1965 Chrysler Imperial affectionately known as Black Beauty We saw the Imperial for the first time at the 2009 Comic-Con; the car actually used in the 2011 action comedy The Green Hornet.
Of the 30 cars made for the movie, host Chris Rutkowski says that Sony only preserved two, and if you're a collector of movie cars, this one is currently being sold for $165,000. Scroll down to watch as Rutkowski takes Black Beauty for a spin through Beverly Hills, CA with its assortment of exposed weapons including the hood-mounted machine guns, numerous missiles and flame thrower.
Jeep hiring 1,000 part-time workers in Toledo on Wrangler, Cherokee demand
Wed, 12 Mar 2014The new Jeep Cherokee has been quite a success for Chrysler, but its factory workers are getting tired. The automaker has agreed to hire up to 1,000 part-time, temporary employees at its Toledo Assembly Complex where the CUV and Wrangler are built. It will allow the company to keep Jeep production moving, while giving laborers a break.
According to plant manager Chuck Padden in the Toledo Blade, full-time workers are regularly taking on 60 hours a week, and it's beginning to wear on them. "To get them more time off is important to us, to make sure they're refreshed, and can work safely," said Padden.
Chrysler has already hired 380 temporary, part-time workers for the plant, and 50 have been converted to full-time employees. The company is in the process of interviewing the rest of the new hires now and plans to have all 1,000 in place by the summer. They will work between 10 and 30 hours a week mostly on weekends for $15.78 per hour with limited benefits. The temporary positions will last "as long as demand continues for the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Cherokee," said Jodi Tinson, Chrysler spokesperson for manufacturing and labor communications, to Autoblog in an email.
Chrysler trademark suggest new Rebel in the family
Mon, 05 May 2014Trademark filings can be a first alert in the auto industry that something is coming. For example, Lamborghini trademarked Aventador before we saw its supercar, and Chevrolet did the same thing with Z28. Other times, an automaker files to protect a name and never does anything with it. Chrysler is dredging up a brand from the past by filing a US request for "Rebel." The name is specifically for "motor vehicles, namely automobiles, trucks, vans, sport utility vehicles and structural parts therefor," according to Ignitionist quoting the filing.
In the US, Rebel was previously used on some American Motors Corporation models. It even spawned a muscle car version called the Machine (pictured above). Chrysler eventually bought AMC when it bowed out of the auto industry in 1987.
Chrysler's plans for the name are a complete mystery at the moment. Although, it probably won't be a midsize sedan like the original. That just seems too unlikely given the brand's current, established lineup. Rebel seems like a fantastic name for the performance trim of a vehicle, though. The Jeep Renegade Rebel has a nice ring to it, and a Ram 1500 Rebel pickup could also work. We're going to have to wait and see what's in store for the moniker. Let us know in Comments what model you think would fit the Rebel name.
