Everything works with the exception of the intermittent wipers (work on high and low just fine), fuel gauge only shows empty or full, HVAC blower does not work on level 3 (works fine on 1,2,4 and 5). Exterior in fair condition. Has the usual rust spots below the rear slider doors that all of the GM Vans of this vintage have. One side rusted through. Front bumper has a crack in the passengers side. In the last 10K miles: new tires in front (rears are OK), battery, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, air filter, transmission fluid and filter changed. Runs and drives good. Air conditioning front and rear works great. All power options work (locks, windows, mirrors)."

Up for auction with a low reserve, is a 2003 Chevy Venture LS Extended Van. We bought this van a few years ago. The big selling point? Smells. Or, lack thereof. It seems to be an almost impossible task to locate a used van that does not reek of something. As for selling it now? We had the option to purchase my company van at the end of its lease. So, now there are three vans in our driveway. That's one too many. Air conditioning front and rear works great and is ready to take your family and their gear on a road trip in comfort. Integrated child seat. Tons of cargo room with the seats removed. Good trunk space with the seats in. Runs and drives good. Power outlets front and rear to keep the kids' devices running on those long trips.Options include: ABS brakes, traction control, power steering, tilt wheel, AC front and rear, power windows, power door locks, cruise control, front driver and passenger air bags, side impact air bags (front), power drivers seat, 7 passenger seating, roof rack, alloy wheels and privacy glass. She is not in perfect condition, but not bad for a 10 year old van.  Just to reiterate the condition:

Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

GM won't sell 2014 Chevrolet SS in Canada

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

Allow us to be the first to extend our condolences to our friends to the north. General Motors has announced the 2014 Chevrolet SS will not be available in Canada. The Globe and Mail reports the automaker has confirmed the high-performance sedan won't hit Canadian dealers, though GM hasn't offered up any reasoning as to why that is.
Buyers here in the US of A, meanwhile, can look forward to getting their hands on the 415-horspower, rear-wheel drive SS by late summer. Something tells us it won't be long after that before Canadian officials start seeing individually imported 6.2-liter V8 four-doors in their neighborhoods. Fortunately, Canadian buyers will still be able to take home the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. The C7 bowed at the Canadian International Auto Show last week, reportedly drawing sizable crowds and interest.
