FOR SALE

1996 CHEVY TAHOE

4X4 - never off road!

Clean, Smoke Free Interior... No rips or tears!

I bought this Tahoe used in 1998 with less than17,000 miles on it and have had no major problems with it.  It now has a little over 178,000 miles on it and aside from expected routine maintenance of wearable parts (tires, belts, hoses, fuel pump, starter etc.) the truck has required nothing since I've owned it.  It was driven by my wife until 2004 when she bought a new Tahoe.  At that point I began driving the Tahoe until 2009 when I bought a new Sierra.  At that point my son drove it as his first vehicle.  This is when most of the cosmetic upgrades were installed (new headlights, LED tail lights, billet grill, wheel well moldings etc).

The reason for selling is that my son purchased a vehicle from a family member with half the miles which was a good deal for him.  So it's time for this Tahoe to move on down the road and find a new home.  It's cleaned up and ready to go.  GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!!

Factory Options:

  • 5.7 Liter 350 V-8 (original, runs great, does drip oil, related to age and miles)
  • Automatic transmision (original)
  • 4X4 (works well, never taken off road)
  • Air Conditioning (works well)
  • Four Door (work well, some common hinge wear on front doors)
  • Desireable TAIL-GATE style rear end
  • LS trim package
  • Cloth seats (clean - NO TEARS!)
  • Fully carpeted (not perfect, but clean)
  • Just replaced the FUEL PUMP and starter
  • Tow package
  • Full Spare tire

Upgrades:

  • Chrome MOTO-METAL Wheels
  • Nitto Terra Grappler tires
  • High visibility Headlights (see pics)
  • High end LED tail lights (see pics)
  • Oversized chrome wheel well mouldings
  • I-pod docking stereo and aftermarket speakers (so-so quality)
  • Hand painted pinstriping
  • Billet front grill insert

Known Problems:

  • Tires; quite worn, guessing less than 50% tread left
  • Paint; faded and worn near hood (by windshield) - areas of roof
  • Stone chip(s) in windshield

This vehicle is being sold as is and does NOT include any warranty or guarantee.  I encourage interested parties to inspect the vehicle prior to bidding.  The vehicle is for sale locally.  Pick up or shipping arrangements and cost are the sole responsibility of Buyer.  I am willing to assist Buyer at my end if need be within reason.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray priced from $51,995*

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

After months of speculation, Chevrolet has finally revealed the official starting price of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The base MSRP for the 450-horsepower Stingray Coupe will be $51,995, while the Stingray Convertible will go for $56,995 (*both prices include a $995 destination fee). This means that the price increase from 2013 to 2014 is just $1,400 for the coupe and $2,395 for the convertible - pretty modest increases considering the upgrade in specifications. Of course, neither price accounts for the sort of dealer markup that might grace early C7 window stickers, especially since less than a third of all Chevrolet dealers will be allocated Corvette models to sell at the car's launch.
Now, these prices are for the base car, so if you're wondering how much a fully loaded Stingray will run, Chevy has given us a good indication of that as well. The coupe we saw on display at the Detroit Auto Show (shown above), for example, would run $73,360 including options such as the $2,800 Z51 Performance Package, $2,495 competition sport seats and the $1,795 Magnetic Ride Control option - just to name a few. Stepping up to the 3LT trim level that brings a full leather interior will run an extra $8,005 over the base price.
While $20,000 in options may seem like a lot, this "as-tested" price still has the C7 competitively priced against rival coupes like the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. Speaking of price comparisons, Chevrolet also points out that the C7 Stingray Z51 costs $2,200 less than the C6 Grand Sport while delivering better acceleration (0-60 mph in less than four seconds) and improved track performance (including more than 1 g in cornering).

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
