A bun in the oven trumps a project in the yard any day. I'm listing this nice classic for my niece and her husband, who just found out they're very preggers, good old uncle Tramp.
If I was thirty years younger I'd do this truck up myself, somebody out there is gonna get lucky. This is a nice used Suburban, the only real problem is the transmission. It will not shift into park, it had some funky homemade linkage pieces bolted to the trans, we bought and installed the correct pieces from B&M but it still stops at reverse. I think the parking pawl in the trans is bent, it can still be driven but probably should be towed or trailered because it will start in gear.
Now the good stuff, it pretty much unmolested. The radio hole in the dash has been cut but otherwise the body is nice, normal dents nicks and scratches for a 68 but beautifully flat for a restoration or custom paint. The interior is as pictured, the ignition switch needs replacement, we have it hot wired & 95% of the electrics work. It runs excellent & sounds badass(if you like gear drive & Flowmasters). The pictures tell the story, the undercarriage pics are just an indicator of condition, notice how everything is all nice and grimy in the same way front and rear, not all jacked up with cow poop and cutting torches like most trucks around this year. It's not even lowered!!! But if you look at the rear bumper you can see it's been 'Foosed', someone cut up a probably good front bumper and stuck it on the rear, oh well.  It has power drum brakes that work good. Their reserve is too low in my opinion, but I'm thinking it'll bangdown that paltry sum in a flash. Get lucky bidders. I have some answers if you have questions.     Tramp

Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.

GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC

Sun, 06 Oct 2013

American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.

Chevy exec confirms SS production model reveal at Daytona on Feb 16

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet SS will make its racing debut for the 2013 Daytona 500, but the production version of the car will get its official unveiling on February 16 in Daytona, a week before The Great American Race. According to a report by Automotive News, the reveal has been confirmed by Jim Campbell, Chevy's US vice president of performance and motorsports. With the departure of the Dodge Charger, the new Chevrolet racecar will be the only competitor to feature a V8, rear-wheel-drive layout in both street and NASCAR form.
NASCAR fans will be able to see the new fullsize performance-oriented sedan on display in the festivities leading up to the Daytona 500, but the car won't go on sale until later in the year. The Australian-built Chevy SS will be a low-volume performance model, and it will be priced above the 2014 Impala, which starts at $27,535.
