2006 Ssr Final End-of- The-line Model. Top 3ss Options Package W/ Chrome & 6 Spd on 2040-cars
Burleson, Texas, United States
The model year 2006 was the first time that the SSR came in designated packages: 1SS, 2SS, and 3SS. Each package had a more refined level of option groups with the 3SS having most of the options that you would want including the highly sought after chrome package which was only available in 2006. It included chrome wheels and all trim formally Silver Satin Finish now in chrome. The 2SS had all the good stuff and the 3SS added bling. If you are a fan of Chevy's SSR roadster pickup, you already know that the one to own is the end-of-the-line model with the 6.0 L (364 cu.in.) LS2 and Tremec 6 speed transmission. The 6 speed certainly makes a big difference in the driving experience with power to spare thanks to the 400 H.P. LS2. It's fast, it's fun to drive and sure to be a future collectable given this truck's sought after options. Carfax certified, buy with confidence. I would be happy to assist you in shipping this vehicle or I can pick you up @ DFW International Airport :-) |

Chevrolet SS previewed by Holden VF Commodore SS V show car
Thu, 14 Feb 2013It won't be long before we see the official, production-ready Chevrolet SS sedan (hint: it will be revealed this weekend). And to tide us over until all of the official details are released about the US-spec version, we have this: the Holden VF Commodore SS V show car, a performance-oriented brother to the Calais V that debuted earlier in the week.
What we really want to know about the SS V is what lies underhood, but General Motors' Australian arm is keeping that under wraps until the Chevy model breaks cover this weekend. Nevertheless, it's obvious that the SS V will be a serious performer, with all sorts of aggressive cues driving that home on the car's exterior. Take a look at those 20-inch billet aluminum wheels that hide big Brembo brake calipers up front, the sculpted hood and front fascia, the wide air intakes with LED running lights and the quad exhaust pipes out back. It's like the Pontiac G8 GXP never even left us.
Inside, there's a sporty-looking interior with aluminum accents that mix in with black leather and suede surfaces, all tied together in the middle with an eight-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. It looks great, and again, while we don't know anything regarding powertrain details, it makes us oh-so happy to see a manual shifter smack dab in the middle of the center console.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
