Up for bid is a 2003 Ford Mustang GT 100 Year Centennial Edition Convertible. It has approx. 24500 ORIGINAL miles. I am the original owner. It has lambo doors (they do open normally also), complete Roush body kit, Eibach lowering springs, brand new offset 18 inch FR500 wheels with tires that has less than 200 miles on them, side exit exhaust with a Pypes off road H-pipe (I also have the original front pipe with the catalytic converters), Cervini cowl induction hood, under drive pulleys, K&N air intake, 75MM throttle body, Pro 5.0 short throw shifter, style bar, Mach 1000 stereo system, brand new fuel pump assy., front brakes and calipers, smoked headlights, smoked tail lights and it has been serviced with synthetic oil since it was brand new. The car is always garaged and has NEVER EVER been out or driven in snow!! This car is a real head turner and it has a pretty aggressive bark to it also! Every time it is taken to a car show it gets crazy attention! I hate to sell this car because it is my baby but I just purchased a 1965 AC cobra and don't have the room for it now. There is some chips and dings here and there but nothing that is real noticeable. I recommend anyone to come see the car in person. It is being sold in as is condition. It is buyers responsibility to pick up vehicle within 10 days of auction ending. If you want it shipped I will help with loading but it is buyers responsibility for any shipping fees. I will accept cash in person, certified bank check or money order only - I will only accept PayPal for a deposit!! I will not release vehicle until funds clear. Vehicle is for sale locally so I do reserve the right to end the auction early - If the reserve is met I will not end the auction early!!! Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?
Thu, 21 Feb 2013When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.
Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
