1999 CHEVY S10 PICKUP
4WD LS ZR2 OFF ROAD
NO RESERVE!!
UP FOR BID IS A 1999 CHEVY S10 PICKUP. TRUCK HAS 140 THOUSAND MILES.
I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK ALITTLE OVER TWO YEARS. MY SON WAS USING
IT TO COMMUTE BACK AND FORTH TO LOCAL COLLEGE, SO IT WAS USED DAILY AND
HAS BEEN SUPER DEPENDABLE. HE HAS NOW TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER SCHOOL
FURTHER WAY AND PURCHASED A NEWER TRUCK. IT IS IN OVERALL GOOD CODITION. RED PAINT IS STILL
IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE AND SHINES UP WELL. THERE ARE CHIPS, SCRATCHES, AND A FEW DINGS BUT FROM 20
FEET SHE LOOKS GREAT. HERE'S A SUMMARY OF THE TRUCK: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY.
THE GOOD: TIRES ARE BRAND NEW BF GOODRICH RADIAL ALL TERRAIN KO. BRAKES WERE REDONE LAST YEAR WITH NEW ABS SENSORS ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS.
JUST HAD NEW WINDSHIELD INSTALLED TWO WEEKS AGO TO REPLACE CRACKED OLD ONE. ENGINE RUNS GREAT. STARTS QUICKLY AND RUNS SMOOTH. NO LEAKS,
AND NO STRANGE NOISES. OIL AND AIR FILTER CHANGED TWO MONTHS AGO. BODY IS VERY SOLID, AND ASIDE FROM A MINOR FRONT BUMPER DENT
IT HAS NEVER BEEN HIT AS FAR AS I KNOW.
THE BAD: AIR CONDITIONING NEEDS TO BE CHARGED, JUST BLOWING COOL, NOT AS COLD AS IT USED TO BE. DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW WORKS
INTERMITTENTLY, MOST LIKELY A SHORT OR LOSE CONNECTION. NEEDS A NEW MUFFLER (CATALYTIC CONVERTOR WAS REPLACED LAST YEAR). HAS TWO
VERY MINOR RUST SPOTS. ONE IN THE BED, AND ONE ON DRIVERS SIDE FRONT FENDER BEHIND THE FRONT TIRE. PAINT IS NOT PERFECT, AS I MENTIONED
EARLIER. THERE ARE DINGS AND SCRATCHES, BUT THE RED PAINT STILL POPS WHEN IT IS CLEANED UP. THE BED HAS SCRATCHES AND DINGS (LOST THE BEDLINER
ON THE HIGHWAY LAST YEAR!) ALSO AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, THE FRONT BUMPER IS DENTED SLIGHTLY. THE INTERIOR IS PRETTY GOOD, BUT THE DRIVER
SEAT IS PRETTY WORN OUT WHERE SOMEONE WAS SLIDING OUT OF THE TRUCK. THE CUSHION IS PRETTY USED UP.
THE UGLY: THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT IS ON. WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC THAT IT SHOWS A MESSAGE INDICATING TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE HAS BEEN DETECTED.
I DRIVE THE TRUCK INFREQUENTLY, AND HAVE NOT NOTICED AN ISSUE. MY SON SAYS THAT OCCASIONALLY IT SEEMS TO HESITATE WHEN SHIFTING, BUT HE ONLY
NOTICES IT WHEN THE TRUCK IS LOADED (HE USES IT TO BRING HIS DIRTBIKE AND EQUIPMENT TO THE MOTOCROSS TRACK). I TOOK IT FOR A LONG RIDE THIS WEEK
AND IT FELT FINE. WHEN I HAD IT CHECKED, WE CHANGED THE TRANS FLUID AND REPLACED THE FILTER.
BOTTOM LINE: THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE TRUCK THAT HAS BEEN VERY DEPENDABLE AND STILL LOOKS GREAT. I'D LIKE TO KEEP IT, REPAIR IT, AND SELL IT FOR WHAT IT
IS REALLY WORTH, BUT DON'T HAVE THE DRIVEWAY SPACE FOR IT ANYMORE.
I AM SELLING IT AT NO RESERVE, WELL BELOW IT'S BOOK VALUE OF JUST UNDER 5 THOUSAND. IT'S A GREAT DEAL AT THIS
PRICE CONSIDERING I JUST THREW A 1000 BUCKS WORTH OF BRIDGESTONE RUBBER AT IT. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK
AND I WILL ANSWER ASAP. I AM LOCATED IN BRIDGEWATER NEW JERSEY (CENTRAL JERSEY). I WORK NIGHTS SO I AM AVAILABLE MOST DAYS
IF YOU WANT TO COME CHECK IT OUT (WHICH I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU DO BEFORE BIDDING). I'M NOT TRYING TO MAKE MONEY ON
THIS DEAL SO IT'S IMPORTANT TO ME THAT YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GETTING. I WILL ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS
AS HONESTLY AS I CAN. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK!!! DAVE

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner
Sat, 24 Aug 2013For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile
Mon, 18 Nov 2013The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.
GM profits threatened by glut of pickups
Wed, 05 Dec 2012Automotive News reports that General Motors may slash production or ramp up discounts in order to deal with an oversupply of pickup trucks. GM currently has more than double the standard supply of pickups, and the vehicles are threatening to dampen the automaker's profits for 2013. Typically, automakers try to sustain a 60- to 75-day supply of vehicles, but GM is currently loaded with a 139-day supply, as of last month. At the end of November, the automaker was sitting on 245,853 units.
The manufacturer says that it will adjust production accordingly before laying any incentives on the profitable pickups. Even so, there's some concern that the inventory swell could hurt the roll-out of the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM actually began slowly stepping back production in August, but it's clear the company will take further action as it heads toward the end of the year and into the next. Analysts predict the automaker could reduce pickup manufacturing by nearly half in the first quarter of 2013.
That still may not be enough to keep GM from laying extra cash on the Silverado and GMC Sierra. While the company's incentive spending was down in November compared to the same month in 2011, both the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 saw double-digit percentage increases in sales last month while the Silverado and Sierra numbers slid compared to a year prior. Incentive spending could help move more trucks and add some balance to the GM inventory surge.
