up for bid is a big 454 ci, 1984 1 1/2 ton duly 4x4 chevy deluxe custom cab and chassis truck that was ordered new for the purpose of a wrecker.
condition: the truck is running and driving, it has a solid body with no rust holes. the wrecker bed has been removed and is not included, it is missing the PTO oil tank, the drivers side extra gas tank, and the a/c compressor. the dash is split in places and the drivers side of the seat shows wear. There is paint chipping on the front cowl at the windshield wipers.
Now for the good stuff: Features: a 454ci big block engine, with high rise square port intake with a new holley 4 barrel carburetor. as you can see the head date is D 11 74, which indicates that the engine has been rebuilt and pass vehicle heads and intake carburetor were put on the stock 454 block which has the matching vin# on the engine pad in front under the alternator. the trucks manual transmission is equipped with a power take off (PTO) unit which drove the winches for the wrecker. this can also be used for a front mounted winch , another wrecker bed or a roll back bed. this 1 1/2 ton duly 4x4 also has front locking hubs which lets you manually lock them in when you need the 4 wheel drive and unlock them when you don't. it also has a locking break system and the double batteries feature.
history: when I bought the truck I was told that the motor came out of a chevelle which means that the heads and intake and headers could have come from a chevelle but because the vin# of the truck matches the block vin# the block is the orginal one. the title is a clear N. C. title. In the dash of the truck I found all the orginal paper work where and when the truck was first purchased which will be included . brake shoes were replaced on one side because of a wheel cylinder leaking and the other set is in the front floor board are included

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]
Mon, 18 Aug 2014For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.
