HERE IS A 1955 CHEVROLET SHORT BED PICKUP READY FOR A HOT ROD RESTORATION. THE TRUCK DOES NOT HAVE AN ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION ALSO THERE IS NO TITLE. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK AWHILE BACK AND REALIZE I HAVE SO MANY OTHER PROJECTS THAT I SHOULDN'T KEEP THIS. SO I WILL SOMEONE ELSE HAVE THE PLEASURE OF BUILDING THEIR DREAM TRUCK.
THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN OFF THE ROAD SINCE 1999. YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE CUSTOM STUFF THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID BACK IN THE 80'S LIKE THE TUBE GRILL, CUSTOM TAILGATE, FRENCHED IN ANTENNA, FRENCHED IN GAS TANK NECK , VELOUR DOOR PANELS, DROP DOWN HEADLINER. REALLY JUST SOME OLD SCHOOL STYLING.
IT IS A GOOD FOUNDATION TO BUILD OFF OF. IT HAS BEEN SUB FRAMED WITH A CAMARO FRONT CLIP AND REAR END. ALSO IT HAS A TILT STEERING COLUMN. IT HAS RUST IN THE TYPICAL PLACES THAT THESE TRUCKS GET RUST. LOOKS LIKE THE FRONT FENDERS HAD SOME RUST DOWN LOW, THEY HAVE BEEN REPAIRED WITH PATCH PANELS. THE CAB CORNERS AND REAR BED FENDERS. A LITTLE RUST IN THE FLOOR. SOMEONE PUT A SINGLE SEAT IN THE TRUCK AND THAT IS ALL I HAVE. BASICALLY WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT I HAVE TO THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK DOES HAVE 5 VINTAGE CRAGER MAG WHEELS. WINDSHIELD HAS SOME CHIPS BUT NO CRACKS ALL OTHER GLASS IS GOOD. LIKE I SAID IT IS A GOOD PROJECT. AT ONE POINT IT LOOKS TO HAVE HAD A TONNEAU COVER ON THE BED AND SOME ONE BOLTED IN SOME STEEL TO SUPPORT THAT. I WILL REMOVE THAT METAL YOU SEE GOING ACROSS THE TOP OF THE BED BY SIMPLY UNBOLTING IT.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
GM won't sell 2014 Chevrolet SS in Canada
Thu, 21 Feb 2013Allow us to be the first to extend our condolences to our friends to the north. General Motors has announced the 2014 Chevrolet SS will not be available in Canada. The Globe and Mail reports the automaker has confirmed the high-performance sedan won't hit Canadian dealers, though GM hasn't offered up any reasoning as to why that is.
Buyers here in the US of A, meanwhile, can look forward to getting their hands on the 415-horspower, rear-wheel drive SS by late summer. Something tells us it won't be long after that before Canadian officials start seeing individually imported 6.2-liter V8 four-doors in their neighborhoods. Fortunately, Canadian buyers will still be able to take home the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. The C7 bowed at the Canadian International Auto Show last week, reportedly drawing sizable crowds and interest.
