A very clean running, driving vintage 1951 chevy pickup.  Perfect for a vintage driver or a fantastic restoration candidate.  Starts easily and runs strong, shifts smoothly through all 4 speeds and drives down the street or highway quite nicely.  Mileage is presumed to be original at 114702 as the speedometer and odometer are currently working and do not appear to have ever been tinkered with.  I have no proof of this, but the condition of the vehicle in general supports this.

The title is clear, to license and drive.

The bad news first - not much.  There is always rust on these old pickups, but this one is unusually solid.  The frame is solid and the body is great with the exception of some very minor floor rust through - somewhat beyond pinholes but not much.  The pictures show this.  Underbody is great, note the photo of the battery box beneath the passenger side - which is a typical corrosive environment - this is solid, and the photo of the underbody of the gas tank (behind drivers seat) which is perfect.

The good news - lots.  This is a largely unmolested truck, still has the original 6 volt system, and most everything works.  For example, the lights work, all the engine gauges work, the speedo works, plus the odometer.  The gauge lighting works, even the inside dome light still works.  The vaccum powered wipers work.  The doors open and close nicely, the windows are good, in fact all the glass in the vehicle is intact and not broken.

Hopefully the pictures tell the story pretty well, I bought this truck for a restoration project and have now decided it is better for a vintage daily driver.  So I am in the market for a project to keep me entertained on cold SD winter nights.

Vehicle is sold as-is where is.  I will assist in loading for out of town buyers to a practical extent, but buyer is responsible for all transport arrangements and cost.  Local area buyers can roll up a pack of Lucky Strikes in your shirt sleeve and drive it home.

Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.
