You are looking at a 1949 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 ton pickup truck. This is a pretty solid old truck that runs, drives, and stops way above average for a vehicle of this age that is not a fresh restoration. Motor runs good, clutch feels good, and brakes feel solid. This is a truck you can build and tinker with while you cruise around in it. It is not a job to drive it like many vehicles with this age are. It does have a couple of oil leaks although. It has the original straight 6 engine with 3 speed on the column. The truck has been converted to 12 volt but retains most of its original wiring. Headlights, taillights, and gauges all seem to work. The paint job looks to have been done quite a few years ago and is showing some of the previous body work. The only rust to speak of you can see in the pictures except for some in tailgate and front lower brace in the bed (cab corners and area where the running boards meet the rear fenders). Under the truck looks very solid (see pics). Front bumper is straight but painted, back bumper looks to be new and chrome.  It also has sun visor, neat Chevrolet step plates on the running boards, and Chevrolet headlight visors. Bed is in good condition with new wood and nice chrome strips. The truck has a new gas tank and has recently had wheel cylinders replaced. Interior shows well. Seat is in good condition, gauges and dash are in nice shape, and door panels are in pretty good condition. This is not a truck that you are going to have spend a lot of time and money on to enjoy it now. Please look at the pictures as I have done my best to represent the vehicle through this description and photos. Feel free to ask any questions before bidding. Buyer is responsible for transportation of the vehicle. This truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction due to local sale. $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of auction. You can contact me at 501-337-3792. Thank you, God bless and happy bidding.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

GM already raising prices on 2014 Silverado and Sierra pickups

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

General Motors must be pretty pleased with sales of its two newest pickups, the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, as it's announced price hikes for both models, as part of a planned price tweak.
Prices will be bumped by as much as $1,500, although weirdly, they'll be offset by as much as $1,500 in cash-back offers through the end of October. Fox Business reports that GM spokesman Jim Cain said of the price hike, "With the sell down of the '13 models nearly complete, this price adjustment was planned and is a normal part of business."
The move, as Fox is quick to point out, is an interesting one, as sales of the twin pickups struggled last month relative to the Ford F-Series, while both of GM's crosstown competitors have been aggressively undercutting Silverado and Sierra prices. The F-150 starts at $24,070 and the Ram 1500 comes in at $23,600, not counting any cash on the hood. A base Silverado, meanwhile, retails at $25,575.

PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.
