1978 nova in original unrestored condition. Car is all original except for the wheels. Has a good running LM1 4 barrel 350 engine believed to be numbers match but not verified, does not tick or knock and runs smoothly on all 8 cylinders. Transmission is a turbo 350 and is not working at this time (has no forward or reverse movement) Rearend is 8.5 inch 10 bolt with 3.08 gears. Car has been sitting for 5 years when the transmission stopped working. I just put some fresh gas in it and it started right up and ran great, the choke even works on the quadrajet. Fuel pump is weak and will only supply enough fuel to run the car if you pour a little gas down the carb first to start the car so it moves the pump rod faster, just cranking the car over it wont pull fuel if the car sits for a day or two., but once it starts it will keep the car running just fine. Brakes need blead but if you pump them up it will stop it. Passenger side door window was broken out so it needs that. Only rust in the car is right behind the rear wheels on both sides but isnt bad. Only bondo in the car is in the drivers side rear quarter up high and is cracking out its about a 6x6 area not bad at all. I believe it still has most of its original paint on the car as you can tell they tried to blend that quarter panel in a long time ago after it was repaired. Body is very nice for its age but has a few small bumps and bruises, bumpers are nice, all electrical is in working order except the gas quage is stuck on full even the vacuum economy guage in the dash is working. Trunk is perfect, floors are very nice just some surface rust nothing major. Interior is complete except for carpet. I have the original build sheet i found under the rear seat and it proves this car is a real 350 4 barrel car from the factory. It is untouched original car and is a great car to restore or just throw a transmission in it and a little work and drive it while your working on it. Needs very little in the way of parts its all there. Cars like this are getting hard to find that havnt been butchered up. If your looking for a great start with no surprises this is it. Car was bought new in dry Montana and has stayed her its whole life. Please feel free to ask questions if i missed something. Buyer must arrange for pickup at my residence i will not move the car, i will help get it loaded. Reserve is set very low for this car as it is just time to let it go to someone else, i have other projects in front of this one and i cant even get to those so i have no need to keep it. Thanks

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
2014 Chevrolet Silverado tows in new configurator, microsite
Mon, 21 Jan 2013Judging by your continued enthusiastic response to configurator notices, dear reader, you enjoy speccing out new cars as much as we do. Better still, there tends to be even more ways to personalize, configure and bloat theoretical MSRPs on full-size trucks as there are with more ordinary passenger cars. In addition to trim level, engine and transmission choices, truck buyers usually have to specify items like cab configuration, bed length, number of driven axles, tow packages, gear ratios and all sorts of bits and bobs.
That's why we're pleased to see the DIY specification utility for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado come alive so soon after this week's Detroit Auto Show debut. While the configurator lacks pricing (General Motors hasn't announced numbers yet) and full options, you can still spec out your half-ton rig, and even print it out or email it to your friends. Beyond the configurator, the new model-specific site is pretty cool, too, with various videos and closer looks at the truck's new features.
The new Chevrolet pickup range won't be on dealer lots until sometime this summer, so whether you're a building contractor, an avid sportsman or just a guy or gal that loves full-size trucks, you might want to check out the link below to keep your appetite whetted. If you're more of a Sierra fan, well, it looks like you're going to have to wait a while - GMC hasn't updated its site yet.
Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
