1974 Nova Hatchback SS clone. Original "K" code car with numbers matching motor and tranny. Very nice driver with a lot of new and original items.. You don't see many of these and they are hard to find with all the parts still intact. The car was painted about 2 years ago and is of local car show quality ,it's a $3500 paint job with not much body work to speak of ..it is lazer straight and no rust or bubbles . All chrome and stainless is new or polished,windows nice .Interior is new with cool houndstooth bench and rear seats ..very nice. Dash is clean and fresh and everthing works. New carpet and trim and headliner is nice.Hatchback works perfect with the fold down rear seat and trunk tools and spare in place. Door panels were not replaced and look good not perfect . Motor is original to the car and runs and operates as it should,drives nice,shifts perfect and has no leaks or rattles, Nice driver, and is solid and could be driven anywhere today. Factory air car that blows COLD.
This is a rare piece and a quality driver that could win local shows . Well sorted and solid investment. I require a $1000 down at auction close and the car is ready for inspection with a notice. Nice hatchback Nova that gets a lot of attention on the road . Please review my feedback I just sold 4 cars on Ebay and 3 of them didn't make it to the end. I have described this car to the best of my knowledge which is substantial in cars I own several.I certainly can help with transport and is still surprisingly cheap .Great car .priced right and ready to cruise. Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept blends the past and the future
Wed, 19 Nov 2014The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.
Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir.
