THIS CAR IS A NICE EXAMPLE OF A CLEAN DAILY DRIVER, BUT IT IS STILL CONSIDERED A PROJECT BECAUSE IT NEEDS A FEW THINGS AND HAS A FEW FLAWS... I PUT NEW BRAKES ALL AROUND AND A NEW WHEEL CYLINDER THAT WAS LEAKING. AFTER DOING THE BRAKES AND THE WHEEL CYLINDER IT STARTED TO FEEL SPONGY, I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT NEEDS BLEEDING. ALSO, NEEDS DOORS AND TRUNK WEATHER STRIPPING, AND GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK AND PAINT HAS A FEW DINGS AND SCRATCHES HERE AND THERE BUT LIKE I SAID IT'S A NICE DAILY DRIVER. THE SEATS LOOK LIKE NEW, CARPET IS GOOD BUT NOT ORIGINAL LOOP CARPET, DOOR PANELS ARE NEW AND IT NEEDS A HEAD LINER. TIRES WILL NEED REPLACING IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCE (TO BE SAFE). THEY LOOK GOOD BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW OLD THEY ARE, FRONT TIRES ARE A LITTLE TOO BIG AND RUB A LITTLE WHEN YOU TURN ALL THE WAY. ALL LIGHTS WORK INSIDE AND OUT. IT HAS AN AFTERMARKET DISTRIBUTOR, ORIGINAL MANIFOLDS, ALUMINUM INTAKE AND 4 BARREL CARBURETOR. 2014 Chevrolet Cruze TD fires up its new diesel motor

Ever since General Motors confirmed plans to produce a diesel-powered Cruze back in 2011, we've been eagerly awaiting its arrival. And as part of the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Chevrolet has pulled back the cover on its oil-burning compact sedan, set to go on sale in the near future with a starting price of $25,695, not including $810 for destination.
The heart and soul of the Cruze TD (that's its official name) is a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel inline four-cylinder engine rated at 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated solely to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine also has an overboost function that will increase torque to 280 lb-ft for up to ten seconds. The full brace of official specs haven't been released, but GM tells us that highway fuel economy will come in at 42 miles per gallon. If that number sounds familiar, it's because the Volkswagen Jetta TDI has the exact same rating. Unlike the Jetta, however, the Cruze TD can run on B20 biodiesel, where as the Volkswagen can only accept B5.
Model-specific changes to this 2014 Cruze TD include an aero kit and unique 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there's a full leather interior, and Chevrolet will provide two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance, not to mention a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Can A Fleet Queen Become a Fullsize King?
On paper, the Chevrolet Impala is a pretty strong seller, posting annual sales that have hovered right around 170,000 units for the last two years, but it only takes one trip to practically any rental car agency to discover where the majority of those sales have come from. In fact, General Motors told Autoblog that a full 70 percent of Impala sales last year went to fleet companies for things like rental cars and government vehicles. Logic tells us that this is neither good for resale values nor name equity, so Chevrolet is getting ready to roll out an all-new Impala with improved comfort, styling and technology, hoping to turn the tables on its retail-to-fleet ratio.
Chevrolet's sedans have come on quite strong in the last few months with the introduction of the Cruze diesel and the SS sedan, but while these will likely be low-volume sellers, there's more pressure for the new Impala to perform well as GM looks to slash fleet sales and compete with the wide variety of full-size sub-luxury sedans. Riding on a platform shared with the Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac XTS, the 2014 Impala will compete against the Hyundai Azera, Ford Taurus and Toyota Avalon on the more traditional side, while also looking to take a bite out of somewhat sportier models like the Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger twins and the Nissan Maxima.
