Up for sale is my very very nice 1968 Chevy II Nova. This was originally a California car, and several years ago was treated to a full frame off resto by the previous owner.  It is all original metal. This is an extremely solid car that starts, run, drives and cruises very nice.  I have some photographs that were taken of the car during the resto process.

It has a mild 350 (though it will chirp the tires hard going into second, and you can spin them at a stoplight to your heart's content). Mild cam, weiand intake, Holley aluminum 770 Street Avenger carb, headers, dual exhaust. Rear end is a Nova 12-bolt posi with 3.70 gears. Trans is a short tail TH 400, which you can either shift manually or slap it in D and let it do the work. Car wears early 70s Chevelle factory wheels that look like Cragars with BF Goodrich Radial TA tires. Car is 4 wheel drum, manual brakes (but stops very very well), and power steering. Windows go up and down, doors open and close fine.
Everything on this car works. Lights, turn signals, instruments, wipers, etc. No funny noises, good oil pressure.

Paint is good, but not Barrett Jackson quality, but much better than a "10-footer". It is clear coat base coat paint. There are blemishes from driving the car, and some minor cracking in the paint on the roof. It does not seem to be spreading and I couldn't get it to show up in a pic.

This car turns heads and sounds great, you can drive it just about anywhere.

I have not taken it to the drag strip, so I don't know what ET it runs.

I am only selling this car so I can purchase a gasser style( Two lane blacktop/American Graffiti ) '55 Chevy.  If you have one, I might be interested in trades. Otherwise, probably not. I can put cash with my car for the right unit.

I am not a flipper, or any other kind of car salesman. I love classic cars, I don't enjoy selling them.

Body:
Factory Non-AC car.
All original metal, rust-free.
Epoxy coated underside (not spray painted rusty metal) You could eat off of it!
Newer rechromed bumpers
SS style hood
SS tail panel with chevy emblem
Decklid had a wing, which I removed, plugs are visible in pics - BUT I have another rust-free hole-free decklid that *is* painted to match.
Minor rock chips, blemishes in paint
Trunk has some *minor*surface* rust due to leaky seal. Looks worse in pics than it is. VERY VERY SOLID, not in danger of rusting through, paint it and forget it.

Interior:
Black with chevy bucket seats (dont think they are actual Nova buckets)
Carpet is good
Small rip in drivers side bucket seat bolster, covered with Gorilla Tape. Holding up great hardly noticeable.
B&M shifter, tach in dash
Dash, door panels, headliner, all in great shape.
Instruments all seem to work, speedo may be incorrect
Package tray has aftermarket speakers

Engine:
Electronic ignition - Mallory distributor
New plugs and wires
New Holley Aluminium Street avenger 770 (very nice carb)
Strong running 350, rebuilt, good oil pressure - have specs from previous owner but haven't personally verified.
Mild Camshaft (unknown, but sounds nice, makes decent power)
Headers, collector mufflers, dual exhaust

Trans
Short Tail Turbo 400 with shift kit (auto or manual shift)
mild converter (2000-ish)

Rear end
Factory Nova 12 bolt Posi

Please feel free to ask questions. I will provide my phone number to interested, serious buyers. In addition to the pics below, I have 97 images in a photobucket gallery -lots of detail, underside, fender lips, interior, trunk, etc. Please check it out before asking for more pics.

Reserve price is exceptionally reasonable, and thousands less than I have in it. Clear title in my name in hand.

Car is for sale locally (Champaign IL) and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time due to local sale. Pickup is buyer's responsibility, though I will work with a transport company if you make all arrangements.

ATTENTION: If you have very low (example, 0 or 1) feedback, please contact me before bidding with a phone number. I have dealt with too many people using ditch accounts to try to play "find the reserve" or whatever. This is a real serious car, for a real serious buyer. Failure to contact me first will result in your bid being deleted!

Thanks for looking!

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.

"Turbo" Chevrolet Camaro is a 700-HP fantasy car come to life [w/video]

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

For a concept car built to promote an animated movie about a snail that wants to go racing, this thing ain't half bad. The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. Check out the trailer below to see if you agree.
As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.
