I am listing today my 1984 SS Monte Carlo. I purchased the vehicle around 1 1/2 yrs ago and I have really enjoyed it. I'm actually only listing the vehicle because I am trying to purchase a house and I could use the money for my down payment.

With that said, the vehicle is in very good condition with approx. 56500 mi. The interior is very nice with no tears, burns holes, water damage etc. All gauges work except for the speedometer, which does still work but the needle is broke in half. There are also NO cracks or sun damage to the dashboard or gauge covers. The vehicle has always been garage kept and I have continued that tradition.

the exterior body is also very good with no dents or rust.  There is a small 3in scrape to it passenger side front bumper towards the bottom which I cause by brushing against a curb backing into a parking spot. There is no underlying damage from that. There are 2 or 3 small dime size surface rust spots in the door jams. the car was re painted 2 yrs ago prior to my purchase. also all the windows where resealed at that time. I do notice some wind noise on the passenger side at highway speeds but I have not noticed any water leaks. The car has started everytime for me with no hesitation and runs very well. The engine is the 305 small block V8 that it came with from the factory. It does have an after market edelbrock air filter, cylinder covers, vacuum and fuel lines and carburetor. Due to the after market carburetor the cruise control cable was not reattached. The cruise controls work but does not engage. Also prior to my purchase the air compressor was removed so the A/C also is not functional but the fan blows strong and heat works fine. I had the timing belt replaced around 1 yr ago and at that time the timing was adjusted along with the carburetor. After the adjustments where made the vehicle was DYNO TESTED and its output was 181 hp w/ 240 ft lb torque at approx. 4400 rpm and that reading will be within the pics attached.

There are no fluid leaks or Transmission slips. I change the oil Every 3 mo and I haven't even put 5000mi on it since I purchased it. It DOES NOT burn oil or have blue smoke coming out of the exhaust nor do I have to add half a qt. of oil every 200 mi. The undercarriage does show surface rust but I am unaware of any significant rot. I do not know if the gas tank has been replaced but it looks clean and the tank straps have been replaced. The vehicle has a good even stance and the suspension is tight. It is not washy at all even at highway speed and the sterring is straight. the only real minor thing that I haven't attended to is the driver side tail light has some corrosion in the socket and goes off and on periodically. Also on occasion the ignition cylinder does not release the ignition key. I normally just start it again, make sure its in park and then its good.

I hope I've provided enough info to help you bid. If you have any further questions please fell free to message me and I will reply ASAP.

The car is sold as is and the winner of the auction will be responsible for all shipping fees and title transfers.

I reserve the right to end the auction at any time due to the vehicle being sold listed locally as well. Good luck to all bidders and please do not bid if you do not have the funds available.

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.
