Project car - This is an original 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Convertible. This is a good restoration project. The car is missing seats and radiator. The original 283 motor, 2 speed powerglide transmission and rear differential are still in the car. The car does have rust issues on the body panels, floors, trunk and on the frame side rails. The frame would either have to be repaired or replaced because of the rust on them. The car includes some of the original chrome parts, I have a few I have purchased in preparation of restoring the car. The windshield is cracked, but the car comes with all the other original glass. The windows and regulators do function. This car does require a complete frame off restoration, but for someone who has more time than I do. The 1966 convertible is becoming more hard to find, so it would be great if someone can bring her back to life. The goods news is replacement parts are available in original and reproduction for this car, so for the right person, it would be a great project. Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why
Sun, 27 Jan 2013Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.

General Motors has released a new short video featuring Kirk Bennion of the Corvette's exterior design team, talking about the challenges of sculpting Chevrolet's new flagship sports car and the five goals the team had to keep in mind as it worked. In the end, Bennion's team had the pleasure of seeing their hard work take center stage as the Corvette captured the world's eyes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
GM recalling 118K Colorado, Canyon pickups over missing hood latches
Thu, 20 Dec 2012General Motors has announced a recall of 118,800 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to the possibility of secondary hood latches not being installed at the time of manufacture. The affected vehicles are from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model years, all of which were built between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, these trucks fail to "comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, 'Hood Latch System.' The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch." In other words, owners of these trucks could find their vehicles' hoods opening unexpectedly while driving.
The official recall campaign is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Dealers will inspect the affected pickups and if a secondary hood latch is not present, one will be installed free of charge. Scroll down to read the official NHTSA report.
