Hi. I'm selling my 71 Chevelle to pay bills as I've gotten a little sick. This car has been parked mostly for at least the last 15 years. The person I bought it from had 2. I sold my 71 Chevelle and bought both of them. The car is from California and was hardly ever driven. It was in pieces when I got it. I put it back together. The engine has just been rebuilt with a 4 bolt main block bored .040 over. The transmission has maybe 1,000 miles and has a small stall converter (2,000?) and a shift kit. It runs good and shifts hard. It also had the 10 bolt rear end replaced with a 12 bolt posi, 373 gears and boxed upper and lower control arms. It has all new brake lines, master cylinder, brake hoses, proportion valve, calipers, rear wheel cylinders and shoes, and front bearings packed. The alternator is new and has the newer internal regulator. The windshield is new. It has new carpet, seat covers, sail panels, package tray, headliner and door panels. Also have material to do the sun visors. The tires are new and still have the little nipples on them. Has Centerline wheels with lugs that need a key to get them off. It also has a tilt wheel which is seldom seen in these cars. The engine is not even broken in yet and has maybe 20 miles on it. It has a Holley carburetor with a new kit in it and I think it's a 650 CFM. The heads have new springs, bronze valve guides, valve job and shaved .010. The cam is a 294H comp cams and the pistons have a small dome on  them. The compression with the heads should be right at 10:1. Has good 4 core heavy duty radiator. Needs to have body work and paint to be a real nice car. Also needs console door hinge without the spring but couldn't find one. Got sick and can't finish it. I need the money for medical bills and credit cards used to do the work done to it already. Comes with a better rear bumper, front fender patch panels, front turn signal lenses and SS emblem for rear bumper. The dash is in really good shape and has almost NO yellowing of the lenses. 12,698 miles on the odometer. Has new gauges and tach and speaker wires under the carpet. Ready for your stereo system with the high dollar speaker wire that will work with amps and such. Clear blue Texas title. New inspection sticker and registration. Will help with shipping any way I can. No warranty expressed or implied. Sold "as is, where is". Reserve the right to end auction at any time. Be serious when you bid as I may take high bid. Any questions just email me. Thanks. Gilbert

2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel arrives with 42 mpg for $25,695*

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

The last time General Motors had a diesel passenger car in the US, it was the 1.8-liter 1986 Chevette. At the 2013 Chicago Auto Show today, GM is unveiling the much-anticipated 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel. The compact bows with a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that boasts 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, with full twist coming on at just 2,000 rpm. What's more, the common-rail, direct-injection diesel features an overboost function that allows the engine to deliver up to 280 lb-ft of torque for 10 seconds at a time. Even with 10 more horsepower and 110 more pound-feet of torque than the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder in the Cruze, the 2.0-liter diesel engine can return up to 42 mpg (highway) bolted to its six-speed automatic transmission.
If you're counting, that figure meets the less powerful Cruze Eco with a six-speed manual transmission. More importantly, the auto transmission Cruze Diesel matches its main competition, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, in highway fuel economy. The Cruze 2.0 TD (as it will be badged) can also handle up to 20 percent biodiesel (B20), whereas the Jetta is rated only for B5. General Motors has not released city fuel economy for its newest diesel, but we do know how much it will cost you to jump behind the driver's seat.
GM will kindly ask for $25,695, plus an $810 destination fee. That marks a $2,115 premium over a loaded Cruze LTZ Auto and $2,640 more than the Jetta TDI, though the MSRP will net you a leather interior, 17-inch alloy wheels and an Aero Performance Package, as well as a two-year maintenance plan and five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Compared to the gas-powered Cruze, you also lose a couple cubic feet of rear cargo space thanks to a 17-liter diesel emission fluid tank. That urea fluid, which helps put the clean in clean diesel, will need to be refilled at least every 10,000 miles.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra debut all-new designs, three new engines

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

General Motors has finally dropped the curtain on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra. Both trucks have undergone substantial revisions with updated versions of the company's 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 engines. In a shot across the bows of both Ford and Chrysler, GM says it won't use a V6 engine adapted from passenger car applications. Instead, it developed the 4.3-liter engine based on its proven truck-duty architecture.
All three mills will boast direct injection fuel systems as well as a new cylinder head design. Combined with a revised piston, the new engines feature a smaller combustion chamber with a compression ratio of 11:1 or higher depending on the application. Cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing are all part of the recipe, and each engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with auto grade breaking. So far, no fuel economy or horsepower figures have been released, though GM says the new engines will best their predecessors in both areas.
Outside, the trucks feature a number of enhancements to reduce drag and wind noise, and GM claims both the Silverado and Sierra will offer buyers some of the quietest cabins in the class. Extended cab models now feature front-hinged rear doors to allow easier access to the back passenger area, and Crew Cab buyers can now select between a five-foot, eight-inch bed or a six-foot, six-inch bed. Buyers with a mind toward going off road will also rejoice in the return of the Z71 package, complete with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and additional under-body protection.

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
