REAL BARN FIND! Stored since 1984 in a damp garage that had a roof leak over the Hood. Chevelle Malibu convertible 1969.All images taken without any attempt at cleaning off 30 years of dirt, This is the car as it came out of the garage (pictured). NO RESERVE!

VIN # 136679B383315.  Has 95% of its important original parts. #'s matching Engine, 4 speedGear box and 12 bolt 331 open rear and Sleeper GM hubcaps. All date codes are in sync with build period and all parts with partial Vin codes match the Vin.
The second owner has had this car since the early 80's until now. He purchased the car from the original owner who was a mechanic, this might explain why the intake and  4 barrel Quadrajet have the correct numbers for 69 but did not come with the L65 350, they came on the L48. The Hurst shifter was also added by the first owner. The owner said  that "before he parked it for the last 30 years it had a recent Valve job and ran great and was very quick".

I now know why they re-manufacture practically every sheet metal part for Chevelle's, for Projects like this worth saving. At least it has its original Fathom green paint and isn't hiding anything beneath 50 pounds of Bondo. Every panel needs replacing or attention. Frame looks good. Engine is very clean inside.
The Bench seat with Arm rest is GM but not from this model car. This is a real bench seat 4 speed car though. The rear seats are there and original. All Glass looks good including the Glass convertible back window. Power top. Manual Drum Brakes. Power steering. This car roles easy and steers. no attemp has been made to get it running.

This Chevelle needs a complete restoration.

If you wish to inspect the car, I will be available until this Friday evening (Dec 6th) only.Unfortunately I will not be available again until the 14th.

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

GM claims it's first to sell million 30+ mpg vehicles

Fri, 04 Jan 2013

As we continue to put together all the data for the year-end edition of By The Numbers, General Motors has announced that it sold more than a million vehicles in the US last year that achieved at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. More impressively, GM managed this feat using multiple strategies including small vehicle size, turbocharged engines and hybrid or plug-in technologies across four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) accounting for 13 separate models. This number will grow even more in 2013 thanks to cars like the all-electric Spark, the diesel Cruze, the range-extended Cadillac ELR and the Buick Encore compact CUV.
GM's small car sales were up 39 percent last year helping to attain this million-sales mark for 30-mpg models, and almost 40 percent of all GM sales consisted of cars with fuel-efficient I4 engines. In regards to more advanced means of improving fuel economy, GM says that it plans on having 500,000 vehicles with "some form of electrification" on the road by 2017.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible is the track car for sun worshippers

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Supercharged, 6.2-liter V8? Check. Seven-speed manual? Check. Obsession with weight? Check.
What did you expect when Chevrolet said it was bringing a new Corvette variant to the 2014 New York Auto Show? Maybe a sticker and trim package, like the C6 Corvette Grand Sport or a tie-in deal like the Black Widow car from Chicago? On the opposite end, maybe there was an even more hardcore Z06 waiting in the wings. Who knew?
