1968 Chevy Chevlle Malibu 4 Door Sedan on 2040-cars
Chandler, Arizona, United States
This is a 1968 Chevy Malibu 4 door sedan 307ci/Powerglide - V8, Vin # 136698K100283. Model 136698 - 8 cylinders only 30,772 produced. The car is a 2 owner car, driven by an older woman until she passed away. It had been sitting since 2009 until I bought it from my neighbor who never drove it from his acquisition in 2009. This car is an excellent Survivor Car with 108,300 original miles and still runs awesome! I drive it from time to time to keep the engine running smoothly. Not one bit of smoke or any oil leaks. It could use a good tranny tune up, due to sitting period before I got it. Drive gear slips a little, but I think it just needs a new tranny filter and a shift kit installed. It starts and drives like a champ. Low gear and reverse work great no slippage at all. This is also a factory AC car, and the AC Pump is still operational. Just needs recharged and tuned up. AC Clutch engages when I tested the system. Car has power steering (No Squealing!) pump is perfect. The heater core may need replacing, but in Arizona who needs a heater! J The tires are in excellent shape still and it still has the original hub caps, & spare tire. It is missing 1 small piece of trim on the passenger side of the car, but easy to find and replace. NEW PARTS: Parts replaced since I bought the car are as follows: All new belts, Oil filter, new Radiator (Original Owner replaced), new Sway Bar links and bushings, new starter, new battery and cables, Completely rebuilt brake system (Includes Master Cylinder) minus the hubs and brake lines (Did this for safety) including wheel bearings. Turn Signal Unit, Vacuum Canister and Air & Fuel Filters. The paint is an original white (Faded), has a few small dents in the front fenders but nothing to major. I highlight some the body damage in the photos. As you can see, there are some very small rust areas in the front fenders. This is an Arizona car, so most of the rust in surface rust spots only. All Pans are in excellent shape!

C7 Corvette makes inaugural ad appearance in Chevy's first spot with new slogan
Mon, 11 Feb 2013Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" tagline has finally been run into the ground, replaced with the Bowtie brand's "Find New Roads" slogan that's part of parent General Motors' plan to unify its everyday brand's marketing efforts worldwide. The new Chevrolet campaign was ushered in on prime time last night during the Grammy Awards on CBS, and the first spot, a 90-second full-line ad, also marks the first appearance of the 2014 Corvette Stingray in a commercial.
Being a full-line ad, the commercial is composed of vignettes centered on different vehicles in the brand's lineup. The all-new 2014 Impala also makes its first commercial appearance in dapper fashion, and time is spent on a skateboarding Sonic and a bouquet of brightly colored Spark hatchbacks driven by fashionable women. The ad starts and ends with Chevy's green halo car, the Volt, along with a young girl with her robotic dog (yes, really).
Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" campaign got off to a rocky start in the fall of 2010, but it did last for a couple of years with some tweaks. This new one, "Find New Roads" seems more intent on drawing new customers into the fold than the outgoing tagline, which seemed to play more toward the brand faithful. It admittedly reminds us more than a little the short-lived "Find Your Own Road" Saab motto (which, we note, was conceived while the Swedish brand was under GM's control), but no matter, we still think it's got more long-term potential than "Runs Deep."
Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows
Wed, 13 Mar 2013While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.
Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
