1961 Chevrolet Full Size Impala - -

4 door, body is in great shape, tons of nice parts (Doghouse is the same as the two door) Headlight frames/bezels are intact.  Already had a 350 in it when I picked it up, I've put some work into it, runs great now, turn key and daily driver.  Engine has - shorty headers, Weiand intake manifold, custom cam, Edelbrock 750 4 barrel carb, Edelbrock high rise air cleaner, edelbrock valve covers, HEI ignition - tuned for 87 octane - it moves very well.  New fuel pump this summer.  I just had exhaust done, true dual, side pipes with rectangular tips - sounds amazing, very deep.  Battery is one year old.  Alternator was replaced 1 month ago. Has power steering(no leaks) Rebuilt ALL of the suspension, this means ALL NEW HD coil springs, shocks, sway bar and tie rod mounts/ends, all of it - rides smooth.  I upgraded the front wheels to disc brakes, power assisted, dual cylinder master, high performance rotors, front is all S/S brake lines.  Rear brakes have been gone through and rear line replaced.

Lights and turn signals all work.  Windshield wipers work.  Windshield has a small crack, body has some dings and is ready for some paint soon, but is very much there.  Steel dash is in good shape.  Has B+M Power shifter, transmission is in excellent shape, 0 problems.  It's ready to run and drive, does fine on the highway, very quick.    Tires have decent tread. Doors open and shut nicely.

It's not far from being a nice daily driver or show car. Body mounts need to be replaced - I have them for it(As well as some other parts)  Then do interior, then paint!!!!  Otherwise it's more than worth the value in parts, as there are not a ton of impalas out there, or ready to be just driven around the way it is.

Rear end leaks a few drops, but that's the ONLY leak.

I'd get in it now and drive to NJ or TN or wherever.

Any questions please let me know.

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:

Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept blends the past and the future

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.
