2009 Chevrolet Impala Lt Sedan 4-door 3.5l on 2040-cars
Newburyport, Massachusetts, United States
This is for sale because I saw that eBay was offering a contest entry for listing a car for sale. This is also why I've listed it at a dealer price. If you buy this, I will have so much explaining to do to my wife heh. Why would I sell a car I recently finished paying off for a contest entry? No good answer.
That said... nothing wrong here. It has the split front bench seat so it can carry 6 people in a pinch. Basically the middle console folds up to reveal a rather tiny and uncomfortable seat and the shifter is on the steering column. Car drives nice and smooth - just replaced rear brake pads and rotors. Tires should have another 25k miles or more. There is a dent on the top of the trunk I tried to photograph - a tree branch hit it. The rear left door lock does not work with the remote... it tries to but only budges enough to work once in 50 tries. My son was pulling on the handle while I unlocked once and that was that. I will sell it to you if you really want - I think my wife loves me enough to forgive me. But it would be simpler if you just look elsewhere. Surely this car is popular enough that there are 100s of other similar black Impalas around for sale. |

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.
Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
Mother's Day Suggestion No. 2,506
Thu, 02 May 2013With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.
Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt - with similar results - around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Scroll down for the video, but know that the action really gets going at around the 1:40 mark.
