This Impala has been upgraded inside and out. All areas of the car are in excellent shape. Motor, trans and rear end have about 6000 miles on each.  No oil leaks and no smoke.

DRIVETRAIN:

383 Stroker Motor built by Blueprint Engines. It produces 429HP @ 4000RPMs and 437lb of torque. Has cast iron Vortec Heads. Also has a very nice Serpentine system with a new 3 row Aluminum radiator. A Miloden 7 quart oil pan was also installed.  6000 miles on motor.

Intake is a Aluminum High rise, I believe it is a Victor. Carb is a 750 Edelbrock. Also has a chrome alternator and a trans cooler. This motor has a awesome sound to it.  The cam has a great lope which turns heads when coming down the street. Distributor is a MSD with MSD coil and wires. Under the hood is very clean and looks great.

TRANSMISSION:

Tranny is a Turbo 350 3 speed with heavy duty parts and a B&M shift kit. Shift great with a nice little jerk at RPMs from first to second. Also has a 2200 stall convertor. 6000 miles on Tranny.

REAREND:

Rear end has  3:55 gears with a limited slip. Rear cover is a nice aluminum cover. 6000 miles on rear end.

SUSPENSION:

Suspension is a high performance Hotchkis system. Has a front and back sway bar system.  Car drives like its on a track no drifting or pulling. Around corners there is no sway, car stays completely level.

The underneath od the car has all been undercoated and is really clean.  Also has new Edelbrock performance shock.  Front end has a 2” drop spindle.  The car sits really nice and handles and drives really nice. The ride is rounded out nice by stock Chevy Rally wheels and Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T , P245/60R15 white lettered 60 series tires.

INTERIOR

The interior is almost completely flawless.  Seats, carpet, headliner and dash are in almost perfect shape and all is original except front seat, which I was able to match with the original pattern and color.  When I say almost perfect shape I mean that there is one small crack on the vinyl on the top of the dash.  The crack is about 1/2 inch long and barely noticeable.  I installed an old school Sun tach. All lights and everything on dash work great.  Get this even the clock works and is correct within about 5 minutes a month.  The heater works great also. Headliner and back deck are like new or better. Inside of this car like the outside is flawless. All glass and mirrors are perfect with no cracks or pits. In dash CD Player.

EXHAUSTE:  Long tube headers with Flowmasters to the rear with chrome tips. These pipes sound great.

EXTERIOR:

Outside of this car is beautiful.  Paint and chrome are a 9.9 out of 10.  Near the front there is one small rock chip that I have touched up but not noticeable. All the chrome is in like new condition The paint is a Seafoam Green.  It is very sharp and has a  great shine.  The vinyl top is in perfect shape also. The rally wheels are aftermarket from Summit.  The wheels are like new also. With the wheel behind the chrome has been painted the same color as the vinyl top.  Really looks nice. This has been a California and Arizona car since new.  Absolutely no rust at all. Car was always garaged with previous owner who owned it for 28 years, as it has always been garaged since I have owned it. Might consider partial trade and cash, Make me an offer.  Tim, 760-937-1449    Click on video links below.

On Feb-17-14 at 16:45:18 PST, seller added the following information:

I did take the car to a shop today and they said that the spring and hood latch are wore out and by replacing them would fix the hood problem.  The parts are 120.00 from Classic Industries.  I will deduct this amount off the purchase price if you take the car.  They are simple to install, a garage can do it in 1 Hour.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.

These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky

Fri, 24 Aug 2012

It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
