1968 CHEVROLET SS427 IMPALA

The 1968 Impala SS427 was very distinguishable from a standard Impala or Impala Super Sport in several ways. The most identifying features of the SS427 were its special louvered fenders and sports styled hood with a chrome insert near the base of the windshield. Both of these features were SS427 only.

Due to its low production numbers, the 1968 Impala SS427 is without a doubt one of the rarest Chevrolet Super Sports of all time. Of the three year run of the Impala SS427, it was the poorest selling SS427. However, thanks to several cosmetic differences between it and a standard Impala, 1968 is also quite probably the hardest of the three years to fake or clone. For most people, the adventure of finding all the correct parts is both too time consuming and way too costly.

By 1968 the Impala Super Sport had been reduced back to being simply an Impala model option (RPO Z-03) as opposed to being a separate model with its own VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) designation. Accordingly, the SS427 (RPO Z-24) was also just another model option for the standard Impala. Unlike 1967, when the Z-24 option was basically combined with an Impala Super Sport to make the SS427, in 1968 the SS427 was a stand-alone option that could be had on the Sport Coupe, Convertible; only 1,778 new customers opted for the SS427 equipment package. Being a L-36 427 it has the in dash mounted 5,500 redline R.P.M. tachometer, SS console and buckets with 427 dash emblem. Power brakes and power steering are also optioned on this car as well as a factory tilt column.

This car now has a 502 gm crate motor with roller rockers and extensive head work, Holley carb and march serpentine belt system, backed by a 700r4 overdrive with a shift kit and stall converter,4 core radiator ,3 inch exhaust , car is a great driver , for daily or shows . You can fly in and drive it anywhere, car rides nice and will lite the tires at your will ,this car is the perfect mix of restomod/orginal. Paint is great and the side molding is actually airbrushed on and is a great touch to the car , American racing torq thrusts and like new tires, floor pans and trunk are all solid

A few things to note THIS CAR IS NOT PERFECT built as a driver not a trailer queen ,Car is missing the drivers side arm rest , center console has a crack on the passenger side , some rust is showing around the quarter panels and by a front roof pillar , ss trim pieces could use a rechrome , I hide nothing on this car , I encourage serious bidders come take a look and lets go for a cruise , thanks for looking and feel free to ask questions , car is for sale locally also and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time ,Due the research a rare car , A chance to own a car that will only increase in value due to how rare it is

Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum. Man surprises girlfriend with C7 Corvette

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

How would you react if someone just showed up at your place of work with a new, 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, complete with all the trimmings? While a lot of us would likely be flipping out over the still rare sports car, it's a fair bet many more of us would be responding like Pattie here, whose boyfriend stopped by her work to show her her new C7.
Speechless and shocked as she seems, she does end up taking it out for a drive, despite claiming she wasn't really outfitted to handle the car's seven-speed manual transmission at the time. From the sound of the video, we got the impression that she knew the car was coming, just not that it was anywhere near ready for delivery. It also, as Pattie says, seems like her boyfriend is more excited about the car than she (which, can we blame him?). Take a look down below for the full video of this C7 Stingray delivery.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....
