One-of-a-kind custom '67 Impala! It has 78.500 original miles on it. The door handles, mirrors, moldings, and badges are shaved off. The paint is a $7,000 Pearl White that looks incredible in direct sunlight! The interior was redone to be as close to the original as possible. The engine is a 350 Chevy crate (with about 15,000 miles on it) with a rebuilt factory transmission that was done back in early 2001. There are some performance add-ons such as intake manifold, air cleaner, and exhaust system. It sounds real nice and growly! This car was built to be more of a show car than a "go" car. It has 18" MKW wheels fitted with 245/45R18 tires. It used to have an air bag system that would lower the car all the way to the ground, but I was having issues with it so I took that out and put OEM factory suspension up front and rear air shocks in the back. There are no inner fenders up front due to the previous air bag installation. It has new OEM brakes all around (drums on all 4, master cylinder and booster, lines, and pads). The A/C was fixed and works great! There are no power locks or windows. The doors can be opened with a remote door popper. Their is a kill switch to start the car so it will be very difficult for someone to try stealing it. There is very minor surface rust on the lower part of the driver's side rear fender and there is minor rust under the vinyl top. The undercarriage is virtually rust-free! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me! Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

Chevy gets cracking on Cruze EV fleet testing

Chevrolet Cruze EV - Click above for high-res image gallery
The Chevrolet Volt hasn't yet gone on sale, but General Motors is looking at ways of expanding its electric vehicle lineup. Chevy, along with partner LG, is employing a group of all-electric cars in the form of the Cruze. The sedans are part of a demonstration fleet which is located in Seoul, South Korea and is being used to provide data in an electric vehicle research project. The goal is to gather information on driving patterns and charging behavior in addition to consumer acceptance.
The Cruze EVs, along with some Daewoo Lacetti Premieres EVs, are the first fleet of full-size electric vehicles and should provide invaluable information for The General. Staying full-size means not sacrificing cargo space, so the battery pack is mounted to the underbody, leaving the trunk area open for plenty recyclable, canvas grocery bags.

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
