1965 Chevy Impala Ss on 2040-cars

Year:1965 Mileage:83269
Location:

Bronx, New York, United States

You’re looking at a clean 1965 Chevy Impala SS, a true SS. It is my pride and joy and will be yours too. It was restored in 2004 and it has been garage kept ever since. It's won various trophies at the East Coast Orchard Beach and Belmont Car shows in its class. It has a completely rebuilt 327 chevy engine  and the original powerglide transmission. Engine runs really good and strong. It has 15 inch rally wheels, and I still have the original rims with tires and hubcaps if you're into the original look. It has drum brakes, power steering and a 10 bolt rear. This car's paint is in great to excellent condition except for the scratch on the passenger side fender and door and normal wear and tear. It has an excellent straight body. The interior was restored to its original look including the headliner, seats and door panels, and carpets. The dash was completely re-chromed all gauges including mileage, vacuum, and clock, and  the odometer re-calibrated by Auto Instruments in Virginia. It read 82,582 when restored, in the picture it reads 83,241 at the time of the listing it read 83,269 as proof that the engine has less than 700 miles on it. The dash panel and glove box was repainted and all of the trimming was re-plated in anodized chrome. The radio is an aftermarket cassette/CD from Autosound in California; I also have the original (un-restored) radio to go with it. Very rarely do you see a fully restored dash - and this one is a pleasure to look at. The undercarriage of this car is very clean and the chassis is solid with no rust on it. It has new trunk and floor pans and brackets. It also has a new, 3 inch, dual exhaust system.

The car is located in The Bronx, New York and I reserve the right to end the auction early as it is also for sale locally. It is sold as is with no warranties given or implied in any way. This car is a turn-key car - ready to go to a new home.

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
