You are bidding on an almost complete 1964 Impala Convertible project car. There are so many upgrades that I may miss a few contact me for a link to pictures that will tell the entire story. To start, the body was removed from the frame and both were acid dipped to clean the rust away and leave only good metal. From there, floor pans, trunk pan, and quarter panels were replaced then the entire body was e coated at the Nissan plant along side the new cars (the frame also received the same e coat treatment after boxing in the x and adding other support and mounts for a full corvette front end). The body is as straight as they get! A custom aluminum firewall was fabricated, a custom 9" Ford rear end was purchased as well as a 2006 GTO LS1 and auto tranny. The LS1 has a full Billet Specialities Tru Trac Anodized Black setup and is custom painted to match the frame with red accents (transmission is painted to match as well). The suspension is one off, starting with corvette components up front and custom setup in the rear and both are finished off with Air Ride technologies shockwaves with auto ride height for the perfect stance and ride. The car sits on billet 20" & 22" Bonspeed Huntington's that have also been painted. SSBC big brake kit all around with custom painted calipers. All suspension components, aluminum firewall, custom aluminum fuel tank, and other trim pieces have been fully polished to a show quality finish. There is a custom stainless steel exhaust from the headers back with magnaflow mufflers. The headers are fully welded but the remainder of the exhaust is only tacked.

The only thing this cars needs is to be wired up, painted, and an interior. The car comes with the original convertible top frame and brand new black convertible top canvas, one off aluminum radiator/fan shroud, and various parts that were removed when disassembled. I know I have probably missed a lot of things but you get the picture. No expense was spared with this build, owner just decided he wanted something else. There is over $80K worth of labor and parts in this car, his lost, your gain! For more pictures please use kognac14 at gmail dot com and I will send the link to all the pictures. You will notice that the rear bumper was being flush mounted to the body and the taillights were being frenched in, this is the only bodywork that is not complete. I do not have the front grill assembly or headlights but those can be purchased from the many chevy restoration parts resellers. FYI, winning bidder will need to pickup car with a trailer. Last project car I sold the winner showed up with a 2 wheel car dolly, this will not work, car sits too low and it needs to be trailered anyways. The reserve on this vehicle is low so happy bidding!

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica

Fri, 03 Aug 2012

If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.
