Everything that runs and drives the car is NEW- It has less than 6K miles on a new Chevy crate turn-key ZZ4 motor, 700R4 tranny, wiring, white-face gauges, brakes (drum), tires and wheels, AC that works great, and recent alignment. This car can be driven anywhere. She has a lot of power and really has a nice sound.  Everything works as it should. The interior is original, and the paint is about 15 years old, which was repainted the original RARE factory color, "Shadow Gray." A few of the aluminum trim have minor dents that can easily be repaired. She is a DRIVER that is also a show car. I've had her since Feb. and have driven her from North Florida to Daytona, Orlando, and just got back from a trip to a car show in Key West with her with no problems. She is driven to car shows every weekend and has won "Best GM" and "Best Chevy," to name a few. She is not a $50,000 trailer queen, although it wouldn't take much for her to be that- new paint, new seals around windows (they are not currently leaking, but they are hard as a rock and original) and doors, and some trim work, and new interior (headliner has yellowed some and seat covers have faded some from age) I'm not interested in trades or services. I'm only selling her because of finances and too many other projects. We believe we are the second owners and it's obvious she was garaged all her life and well taken care of.  The car is located in North Central Florida, where I-75 meets I-10.  I recommend viewing the car first, as with any vehicle, and there are no warranties.  Shipping is up to the buyer.  It is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early.  If you're really interested, message me.

Race Recap: 2013 Indianapolis 500 better than Bollywood; all the emotion, none of the music [spoilers]

Mon, 27 May 2013

If the 2013 Indy 500 were a movie it would be the one expected to win all the little statues come awards season, and if it were an athlete it would have made spectators watch in awe as it broke record after record. And this kind of talk comes after last year's race was considered one of the best ever - the last lap hijinks in 2012 and Takuma Sato's crash leading to a podium ceremony straight out of a Golden Globes tearjerker.
But this year's race delivered more than anyone expected, from the 250,000 fans to the commentators to the IndyCar series itself and, finally, to the guy who hopped through a two-mile window on Lap 197 to take the lead and keep it until the end.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette wastes no time zooming into Jay Leno's Garage

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Where else would you expect the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to show up first? Although this time it isn't exactly in Jay Leno's Garage, Leno instead playing an away game at Brown's Classic Auto in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nor does Leno drive the car, instead taking an 11-minute walkaround of the new American sports car with General Motors design head Ed Welburn, the same man who recently brought by a string of classic Corvettes to the talk show host's California compound.
It is, admittedly, a love-fest for the American sports car now featuring 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, but one that also features admissions about previous Corvette seats like "they were kinda rough," and the explanation that labeling the coupe "Stingray" means not having to call it "the base Corvette." On top of that, Welburn also explains the proper application of the term "dashboard." You can watch it all in the video below.
