This 1998 Chevy Express Van is ready to go to work for you. In its former life, it was owned by the state of Virginia and used as an inmate transport. It has seating for 15, however; the belts in the rear have been disabled. The seats do come with the van but can be removed to turn this into a work van. It has a plexiglass and steel partition between the cab and cargo area as well as heavy expanded metal over every window. This van is highly secure and even has a lock box between the front bucket seats. Brackets on the rear doors can accommodate pad locks for extra security. The 5.7 liter V-8 gasoline motor runs strong without knocks, pings or unusual noises and it has no leaks. The automatic transmission with overdrive shifts properly into every gear with no grinding, slipping or bumping and does not leak. It has four Firestone tires with lots of tread life. The heavy duty suspension is tight and has no funny bumps or knocks. The steering is all proper and makes this van surprisingly easy to control.

There are 2-3 minor surface rust spots at the bottom of the side doors and rear door. Some paint is peeling over the cab and along the drivers side. There is no rust forming where the paint is peeling and primer under the areas is intact. The glove box between the seats and on the engine cover has a broken latch but it also has a tensioner that keeps it closed so it doesn't flop around.

This would make the perfect work van for anyone that carries high dollar parts and tools that need an extra level of security. It would also make a good transport van where separation of driver and passengers is desired. In the case of a zombie apocalypse; this is the vehicle you want to get trapped inside. I'd feel bad for the driver but anyone riding would be perfectly safe.

Feel free to e-mail us with any questions you may have.

Good luck and happy bidding.

GM already raising prices on 2014 Silverado and Sierra pickups

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

General Motors must be pretty pleased with sales of its two newest pickups, the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, as it's announced price hikes for both models, as part of a planned price tweak.
Prices will be bumped by as much as $1,500, although weirdly, they'll be offset by as much as $1,500 in cash-back offers through the end of October. Fox Business reports that GM spokesman Jim Cain said of the price hike, "With the sell down of the '13 models nearly complete, this price adjustment was planned and is a normal part of business."
The move, as Fox is quick to point out, is an interesting one, as sales of the twin pickups struggled last month relative to the Ford F-Series, while both of GM's crosstown competitors have been aggressively undercutting Silverado and Sierra prices. The F-150 starts at $24,070 and the Ram 1500 comes in at $23,600, not counting any cash on the hood. A base Silverado, meanwhile, retails at $25,575.

Chevy rolls out Silverado HD High Country

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

It's been a good week for heavy-duty truck buyers. First, Ram revealed the Black Package for its HD trucks, then it rolled out its new Power Wagon, and now Chevy's getting in on the action with its Silverado High Country HD. Okay, so it may not pack quite the attitude of Ram's latest 2500-series offerings, but the High Country HD will come as a welcome addition to the Chevy Trucks range to those looking to pull their horse, boat or other trailer without skimping on creature comforts.
Rolled out a little under a year ago, the High Country trim is Chevy's answer to the likes of the GMC Denali, Ford King Ranch and Ram Longhorn. It has until now only been offered on the light duty, 1500-series Silverado, but now extends to the 2500 and 3500-series HD models, as well.
So what sets a High Country pickup apart from lesser Chevy trucks? You'll be able to pick it out based on its chrome horizontal grille, body-color bumpers, 6-inch tubular side steps, 20-inch chrome wheels (18-inch on the 3500 and 17-inch on the dualie) and, of course, plenty of special badging. But it's inside where the High Country makes its mark, with a cabin decked out in saddle brown perforated leather, seats that are both heated and cooled, eight-inch touchscreen with full MyLink suite, Bose audio and park assist functions front and rear to keep those color-keyed bumpers looking fresh. (Though Chevy hasn't yet showed us the interior of the HD model, it'll presumably look mostly the same as the cab in the 1500 High Country in the gallery below.)

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
