Gmc Version Of El Camino (caballero) on 2040-cars
North Charleston, South Carolina, United States
Here is a nice 1987 GMC Caballero. The Caballero is the sister car to the Chevy El Camino. Since Ebay doesn't list the Caballero in the models I used the El Camino listing to make sure she was listed with the other like cars. Everywhere I drive this car people ask me about it. I am the second owner of this car. Previous owner passed and his son sold it to me in an estate type sale about 5 years ago. It ran well when I got it but I made alot of improvements. Originally it was black but need to be painted because it was a little faded and I wanted her to look sharp. I have had the engine gone through by a professional mechanic - he rebuilt the carburator, installed new battery, replaced the oil pan, installed new brake lines. I installed some nice 16 inch wheels and white letter tires, had it painted, also converted it to dual exhaust. I also had the seats recovered and new carpet installed. I also added a nice stereo system installed with large new speakers behind the seats (It Rocks!). Stereo also has a USB port. When I bought it I noticed a slight body roll when I purchased it so I took it to a race mechanic and installed a larger steering (Sway bar - I think is what it's called) system. Now she sticks to the road like a Jungle Cat! There is no Body roll on this car! Exit and entry ramps are a blast! (in more ways than one). It is a pretty fast car - but I have babied her since she is a little old. Going down the highway she rides like my Cadillac! Let go of the wheel and she stays straight. Will she spin the tires? YES! but only one will spin! Some people have suggested adding Positive traction but I've already got too much money in it. Is the air cold? It's cool but will leak down. Originally I think it was Freon - but I have had some guys convert it to modern (whatever it is now). Maybe theres a leak in the system somewhere - but it is cold for quite a while. The suspension is nice - I guess it could use some modern front shocks but the rear is "air-ride". Yes, you can add air to the rear shocks through a valve beside the gas cap. The black rubber (window sills?) are dry rotted and rain will leak down into the doors. when caught out in the rain. I have kept her in the garage most of the time - I have noticed a few rust bubbles down low in the door panels. My mechanic says it wouldn't be too much to take care of. Well, I HATE to see her go but...it's tax time and I am moving out some of my toys. This is a FUN car to drive - I have used her as a daily driver over the past 4-5 years and I know she will serve her next owner well. Good luck!

Chevrolet Malibu gets across-the-board price cuts, hopes to dig out of slump
Mon, 11 Feb 2013To say that things aren't going well for the newly redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a pretty sizable understatement. Reports have been swirling about the Malibu getting an emergency design refresh, less than a year after its introduction, as well as having its production at the Fairfax Assembly Plant halted twice already this year for excessive inventory. Now, Motor Trend is reporting that the midsize sedan will be receiving price drops across the board ranging from $300 on a number of models up to $770 on the 1LT trim; offsetting some of MSRP drop, though, the destination charge has increased from $760 to $810.
Without destination, the entry-level Malibu LS now starts at $21,995, which is still about $300 more than a Honda Accord and about $300 less than the segment's top-selling Toyota Camry. This new pricing also drops the price of the Eco, 2LT and 3LT trims by $300. The LTZ trim has dropped by $415, meaning that the Malibu's top dog now starts at just under $30,000, excluding destination.
Here are the new starting prices for all eight of the Malibu trim levels compared to the previous prices for the 2013 model year (including destination):
Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own
Tue, 22 Jan 2013It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph
Tue, 01 Oct 2013Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.
