HELLO... UP FOR BID IS MY BEAUTIFUL 1971 CHEVROLET EL CAMINO 454 V8 TWO DOOR. THE CAR IS AN OKLAHOMA BEAUTY AND WAS OWNED BY A 75 YEAR OLD GENTLEMAN FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS. THIS VEHICLE WAS HIS PRIDE AND JOY AND IT SHOWS. HE RELOCATED TO FLORIDA AND NEEDED THE MONEY FOR HIS RETIREMENT. HE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS CAR TO MAKE IT LOOK THIS NICE. THE PAINT IS GORGEOUS AND DONE IN BRIGHT CHEVY RED WITH BLACK SS STRIPING. THERE ARE NO BUBBLES IN THE PAINT AND THE PAINT IS EXCELLENT AND STRAIGHT. ALL THE BODY LINES ARE PERFECT. THE DOORS SHUT LIKE NEW AND THE BACK BED IS RUST FREE. GLASS IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. THE CHROME BUMPERS ARE BRIGHT AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE PAINT ON THIS CAR GLOWS AND IS VERY EYE CATCHING {PLEASE SEE PICTURES}. INSIDE IS GORGEOUS BLACK INTERIOR, THE SEAT IS IN NEW CONDITION. THE DASH AND CARPET ARE ALSO LIKE NEW. HAS A NEW CHEVY STEERING WHEEL AND BRAND NEW CUSTOM CHEVY STEREO. THE RADIO WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE BOX AND SET IN THE CAR BUT NOT HOOKED UP YET. THE DOOR PANELS LOOK NEW STILL {PLEASE SEE INTERIOR PICTURES}. THE CAR HAS POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. THE ENGINE IS THE POWERFUL AND HIGHLY DESIRED 454 V8 BIG BLOCK THAT RUNS EXCELLENT. IT RUNS OUT BEAUTIFUL AND TRANS SHIFTS LIKE NEW. THE WIFE AND I DROVE THE EL CAMINO TO A CAR SHOW LAST WEEK ABOUT 300 MILES ROUND TRIP. THE CAR PERFORMED PERFECT FOR US. WE RECEIVED MANY COMPLIMENTS AND THIS CAR DREW A LARGE GATHERING OF CLASSIC CAR ENTHUSIASTS. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE HAD A BLAST. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS LOOKING NEW, ALL CHROMED OUT AND READY TO SHOW - LOOKS GORGEOUS. THIS EL CAMINO ALSO HAS BRAND NEW AND VERY EXPENSIVE STAINLESS DUAL EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH CUSTOM EXHAUST TIPS EXITING OUT THE REAR. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE EL CAMINO IS ALSO BEAUTIFUL LOOKING AND EXTRA CLEAN AND READY TO SHOW [PLEASE SEE PICTURES}. Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.

2014 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra full configurators truck in
Sat, 15 Jun 2013You can now put prices to your wildest option-sheet dreams of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. A microsite for the full-size pickup truck twins has been up since January, and now the full-blown configurator is live and ready to take your virtual orders. The only two chassis configurations available at the moment are the Crew Cab with either a short or standard bed - Regular and Double Cab versions will come later. In Silverado flavors that will run you $32,710 for the short box, $33,010 for the standard box, while the Sierra adds a $1,500 premium to both of those prices, and destination and handling for both models adds another $995.
Since these are American pickups the list of modifications is lengthy, but we added $11,450 in just two steps by starting with the Silverado Crew Cab and standard bed, then checking four-wheel drive and the LTZ Z71 package. Our final truck, resplendent in Brownstone Metallic paint, heated and cooled Cocoa/Dune perforated leather seating and tasty details like chrome recovery hooks, and engine block heater and LED cargo box lighting, rang up $57,285 at the candy store.
They'll be on dealer lots sometime this summer, so now's a good time to start practicing your box-checking.
Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why
Sun, 27 Jan 2013Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
